Noob here with a new 2005 civic. What is the usaual order of mods?
I'm not even sure if this is the right forum to post this in. Well, I recently bought a new 2005 civic lx. I dropped it put, put 18's on it, but now what is everyone doing to get some power out of these motors? Before anyone tells me to hit the search button, I'm a mustang guys who has never even thought that I would own a Honda. Is it worth even trying to get some power out of this motor? I need some torque. What kind of power is it cabable to make without forging the block and still retaining a reliable daily driver. And is it woth forging the block, or is it better to just do a motor swap for larger displacment. Keep in mind, that I'm new to this whole Honda game, I have no clue what all of the number are and what the differences are between a d17 or a b18 or a b20, but if you check out the video in my sig, you'll see I'm serious. Thanks for your help in advance.

boost or n/a on the D17 is a waste, the only way to make reliable power is to swap. The k series motors do have low tq #'s, but can make some awesome power with just bolt ons
I need TP for my bunghole

Drop a K20 motor in the car.
from either the American RSX type S (200 HP), or the Japanese RSX type R (220 HP)
Go to www.Hasport.com for the motor mounts and install docs

if u want the power ur stang has...swap to a k20a2(rsx-s) or k20a3(civic si)
dohc and 6 speed, then turbo it and work on internals...can beat ur stang....if u only work on engine should run 15-20 but it will be fast...ask quiksilver...he just swaped into an 04(04-05 are more difficult for a swap) but it will be worth it in long run

Just so you know, the numbers found in the engine codes refer to the displacement. b18 being 1.8 liters, k20 being 2.0 liters, etc etc. That seems pretty basic, but a lot of people dont know that.
As for your car the only REAL options for a swap are the k20 from the RSX, or the k24 from a tsx or element. Personally I like the idea of the k24 with a k20 head for more torque so I wont have to rev the crap out of my engine. With this also comes a 6 speed manual. People on this board will talk to you ALL day about swapping, but few have done it. However, the rewards seem to be worth it. Here is an informative link to help out....

You don't need power to have a fun car. Stick with suspension mods. Upgrade your rear sway bar and add some strut bars and your car will outrun your mustang in the curves anyday

Wow, why do you say was. Is it still alive and was it steetable?

yeah sounds like ur stang is fast...and saw ur vid...nice...ur vic prob wont be faster than that cause you can go way more with the stang..prob...but an engine swap can go far with power...u cant go past 300 on a d17a2...and even then it may crack....if u base a vic on suspension it can perform well....good luck
