Dyno Proven power: Injen Short Ram vs. Stock
Dyno Proven power: Injen Short Ram vs. Stock
Does anyone have Dyno chart proving a power gain / loss with an Injen Short Ram vs. Injen?
Please don't flame...I have done a search and it seems there is no black and white solid proof of gains with this set up. I have gone back to stock airbox (2001 LX coupe auto) and feel better "pull". However, out on the highway I feel more power at higher speeds with the Injen Short.
Bottom line: Do I want to remain stock or do I get more overall power gains with the Injen? (love the sound)

The first line got me...was confused...read on and I understand now...the gains while I cannot proof are minimal and more noticable in Torque!! Probably doesnt help much but honestly if you like the way the injen sounds put it back on, HP numbers arent that much different!!

This link may give you a little insight in to intakes and how they work. It may not nessacerally be for our specific engine but it kind of helps understand where a short ram and cold air are good for.

well, do you really want injen so badly? Because the K&N I have gives a good torque gain over stock. Injen homepage used to have dynos and I think it made 1whp. Well they can't really sell intakes like that, so they took it off.

yeah after all the researching i did. i found CAI and SRI dont do much for our cars. so i went and got an ebay one. just cause i love the sound of a CAI and it was time to change my filter, so i figured i would change the whole intake lol.

(Blue) K&N typhoon short ram intake before/after dyno. Only loses a small bit of torque compared to stock. Stock dyno in winter, intake dyno in summer.

The Injen and K&N FIPK intakes use completely different designs. The filters are similar, but that's where the similarity ends. I would know, I've had both, and there is a difference in how the car drives between the two intakes.
I have the Injen Short Ram on my 01 LX....I notice a little diffrence between stock and Injen...I have gone back to stock and back with Injen a few times...I feel a little bit better pull (tq) with stock, but out on the highway I feel more power with the Injen.
Bottom line question: Am I loosing any hp and tq with the Injen no matter the rpm ??????

my expierence for a short ram (AEM). on automatic civic.
first day i installed it after removing the factory unit, i noticed the rpms would rev up quicker when in parked, acceleration was slightly noticeable after 2.5k rpms, and the sound was mean.
about 10k miles later, i removed the intake and examed the factory airbox unit. i immediately noticed my revs werent as quick as air is restricted in the factory unit. low end was about the same, i couldnt really notice anything different. however, after 3k rpms, it felt "sluggish" but at the same time, i was going just as anywhere as i did with the SRI. maybe the sound isnt there to fool me thinking my car is faster. but from my exp, i think the sri actually does something, but not enough.
if theres gonna be no sign of a heat wave anytime soon in CA, i will be installed my sri back in.

Yeah..I live in Charleston, SC...So it gets wicked retarted hot and muggy. I notice the SRI is slugish when it's hot more so than stock. I think I'll put the sri on for the cooler months...Anyway..thanks everyone for the input
