monroe struts any good?
just curious. im scheduled to get them installed tommorow i think they are called sensa trac. lifetime warranty, 150 each for fronts and 130 each for rears. if i want to put 19s on my car, will there be a gap with these struts and the stock springs? if there would be a gap, can i just cut my stock springs?
150x2 + 130x2 = $560 for struts that i never heard of? idk, thats a lot of money. got any links to them?
koni yellows are probably one of the better struts on the market for the 01+ civic and that runs the same price your paying for the monroe's. but idk, maybe those could be better since i never heard of that company at all.
your gonna have huge wheel gap with 19s and stock springs. and no, please do not cut your stock springs. thats the worse thing you can ever do with springs...
invent into some aftermarket springs which cost from $100-250 depending what kind of drop and brand you get. read the suspension faq, very informative

Monroes (and Gabriels) SUCK!! Had a set on of my Volvos ... rode stiffly the first month, bouncy the next few months, and were completely shot at the year's end (as in 3 were leaky all over). I chucked those into the can ... wasn't worth the lifetime warranty, since I still to deal with labor putting another set in, which I will presume is just as short lived as the previous set.
-- Kane ... and the previous owner thought he was doing a favor getting a new set of shocks/struts installed too.

the sensatracs are an OEM replacement and by design are not intended to increase handling or performance. i have owned vehicles with both monroe and gabriel shocks on them and haven't had any blow on me.
with that said, unless your tires are bouncing off of the pavement and you're desparate for a replacement, i would say go with something more desireable like Tokico HPs or KYB AGXs. <- both better and cheaper than monroe's
i would also mention the koni's, but they require a bit of work retro-fitting them to your front strut housings... if you're paying to have a shop do the install, they would probably look at your cross-eyed when your told them what you wanted them to do.
good luck, man.

A long time ago, I had purchased a Monroe shocks for my old car. My recommendation is don't get it. The ride was pretty stiff & didn't last long. It's definitely not worth the money.
If it's just for an OEM replacement & street use, my recommendation would be either Tokico or Koni. Based from my own experience, in my opinion Koni made the best shocks out there. They are very strong. It can take a lot of abuse.
