Muffler/Exhaust Help... please?
Muffler/Exhaust Help... please?
posted it on the maintainance board and got to thinkin' maybe it was the wrong topic. Basically, my exhaust has been scraping on speed bumps and I just wanna know if I could adjust the height myself and if so, how? thanks
There are some pics on the link so you could see in what way it's hanging down.

gah damm...what happen to your exhaust pipe? you need to take your car to a muffler shop or something and tell them to do something about that. i think they will just somehow hang that middle part for you. im not sure.
yea... what se7engen said...
with original exhaust at 90k miles, something has probably rusted through. i don't think the lx's have a hanger in between the cat and resonator, so it could be a cracked pipe at either end 'causing it to droop.
a muffler shop should be able to get you a new cat-back exhast for $150... or you could spend a couple hundred more and hook-up something that looks shiny and sounds nice.
either way... it's not life or death. the whole thing could fall off and you'd still be rolling

take it to a muffler shop and im sure they'll weld on some brackets or hangers on that area of your exhaust. i would say 30-60 bucks tops.
OR you can dish out like $300-450 for a brand new catback exhaust. and install yourself, but since you said you dont know jack about cars, dont go this route unless your gonna install the exhaust urself.

You might be able to loosen all the joint nuts and bolts, raise it up, and then tighten them. In some magazine, I seen where they installed a catback muffler, but it hung too low in the back. They loosened some of the joint nuts and bolts, raised it up, tighten them, but then it hit the rear valence. With a few more attempts, they had it perfect.
Something does look wrong since the midpipe appears to slope down and then slope up
