Ruined D17 what should I do?
Ruined D17 what should I do?
We recently had a huge storm and I was caught in it and my CAI sucked in WATER. Now I have 2 cylinder walls and 2 rods messed up. I was wondering what people thought I should do with replacing and/or swapping the motor and if they knew price estimates.

I'm personaly suggesting you to fix it with factory warranty, if it works, then turbo!
or if no warranty, then rebiuld with stronger internals, upgraded clutch with light flywheel + turbo!

yeah like everyone else was saying. put your stock intake on and go to the dealership. get a new motor or whatever out of the deal. then make a call.
Come on guys, a factory warranty does not cover screw ups or accidents. It only covers malfunctioned parts. Even with the stock intake on the car it would be evident that it sucked water in. A warranty would still NOT cover it.
k20a2 about 3.5k, 500 mounts, misc. parts 1k., install 1k-1.2k
6200 shoud be enough for an a2
a3 even cheaper
~4700 - 5200 (depend on how much u get the motor)
or just go get another d17
700 full swap + 600 drop in = 1300

Not like the Elise is a very fast car, but those things arent bad AT ALL. 190hp in a 1900lb 6sp car. It had 2 guys that were 220+ lbs each in it, and they were so cocky. Probably didnt know how to shift right.
I saw this little orange elise fly around a corner making a left onto a street by my old house. So I make a right and catch up about a 1/4 mile later. I drive next to him checking his car out. We pull up to a red light. I say, "Thats a sick *** car." His passenger says, "Dont make his head bigger than it already is." So I just look forward and smirk to myself. We get the green light, he takes off, than slows down at about 10mph. I stay even with him, than he goes. He gets a slight head start, but Im already at about 3500 rpms (fully spooled in about .1 seconds) I take a car on him, by second I have another car, and by the time I reach 70, i had about 3 car lengths (carlengths the size of the elise). I turned off, and both them were staring, like Oh ****! as I turned the corner.
Nothing like making people going through a midlife crisis feel old. hehe. Oh, and he WAS racing, since it was a 35 zone (he was goin 70+-) about 100 feet from a police station, lol. hahaha.
But yeah, my point was. Your cars gonna feel like it came that way once you get it all tuned nicely and drive it for a couple months. Thats when you'll turn the boost up. Im at 10psi now, so I cant really turn it up anymore until I start on building my motor.
