So I killed my new neighbors dog.....
So these new neighbors I have were chillin outside the other night at 6 pm. I back out of my garage, and run over a can they threw in front of our condo. It freaked me out a little. I pulled forward, and headed out at 6mph. I was blinded cuz I was heading west. This little puppy runs in front of the Jeep where I cant see it. I run it over. This lady starts freakin out and I thought I was still on it, so I back up, ooooops, I hit it again, shes screaming louder (which I didnt know was possible), and I thought I was sitting on it again. So I pull forward. I was freakin out the whole time this was happening, I was asking did I hit a kid, what did I do? All I heard, was "ASJHIASJKOJFKLEHIEHFJKNASKLNASKJNAKLSNKLAMS" from this annoying BITCH! I had to go get my kids from school so we werent charged 10 bucks a minute per child. So I leave after apologizing about 40 times. I asked if it was OK, and all that.
Last night they come up to me. 3 guys and that one bitch whos dog it was. One of the guys was the "father" lol, of the dog. They come into our garage as I open the door and start going off on me. My kids are in the car and so is my girl. I saw her pissed and started apologizing. She was GOING OFF! Her husband comes up and says hes gonna kill me and break my neck, literally kill me. I apologized like 50 more times and nothing worked. They were talking about our kids getting run over and stupid **** like that. That pissed my girl off A LOT! They said is was the same thing as our kids getting killed. This is a stupid dog. I understand people love their dogs like family, but it is NOT the same thing. We kept saying, let us get the kids in the house, and they were like, yeah get your kids in the house. My girl was like, "Dont you tell me what to do with my kids. I am telling YOU to shut the fu*k up so I can get them in the house!" They kept going and going
We get the kids in the house, we fight for a while verbally, more them than us for sure. We have witnesses. I said, the dog should have been on a leash, which it should have. It ran into my car in the driveway, and they are acting like its my fault, fu*k them! This one guy walks up to my girl, gets right in her face and yells "Fuc* YOU!" She almost beat his *** right then and there. he was actually gonna hit her, but caught himself somehow.
I called the cops, but ended up saying dont come on the phone. We drank a beer afterwards and they said all was good, water under the bridge. I dont like that. Its not that way when somebody walks into your garage with 3 guys and threatens to kill you! HELL NO!
So today, should I just call the homeowners and let them know of everything, including me killing their dog that wasnt on a leash.
If I call the cops for a report, would they come and talk to them and everybody, or can I just file a complaint or something?
This has to be on paper somewhere, I do not trust them. This is 3 different condos, all next door neighbors to me that came up and started this ****. It would be nice to move, but that cant happen, lol. we own it. I hate our new neighbors with a passion, and dont want to have them killed...but if something else happens, I dont know what to do.
HELP! anybody else have these probs?

Dog owners can face a criminal misdemeanor in some cases. It's no secret that having a dog off leash is illegal. It's a criminal charge which means the owner would have to face a judge.
Animal-control officers are told to write up dog owners for a misdemeanor if the loose dog isn't licensed. If an unleashed dog has tags, then the owner is subject to civil penalty, like a speeding ticket. Even if a loose dogs has tags, the owner can be hit with a Class 1 misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $2,500 fine. The same goes for a dog on a leash with expired tags, as the ordinance currently reads. However, a change is in the works to clarify the ordinance.

Thanks a lot. I dont understand how some people can just walk into another persons garage and start all that. Especially to neighbors that just moved in. Great way to make friends
Im gonna get a police report, and call homeowners to inform them. Its the most uncomfortable feeling driving into my own driveway. They are constantly out there drinking, not paying attention, having 5+ cars parked where its a violation (in front of our condo), throwing every cigarette but they have in front of our house, as well as their empty beer cans.
Oh, last night I went to drop my keys off to this dude that has my car. (I also got cut off by Erics ride, lol biyatch) but when I was pulling up to my garage about an hour after the incodent, there was some dude there.
Im pretty sure it was the same guy who owned the dog. They also have a cat. Well, they were squating down in the middle of the driveway, than as I pulled up they ran to the side and I was staring at them hiding. They put their cat in front of our house to try and make me hit it. How can people be such stupid *******s. These people were saying they lived there for 2 yrs and no probs from any neighbors, haha, the place was finished being built 6 months ago, haha. dumbasses. They also met me the first day we moved and we were chill. They were talking about how the last people who lived in our place were rude, and got them in trouble for parking in the wrong spot. I dont blame them, the last people were old, and probably dont want people partying all night drinking in front of their house, as well as trashing the front yard.
Thanks for the information, thats nice to know!!

Sec. 8-14. Dogs not permitted at large; wearing licenses; penalties.
A. No dog shall be permitted at large. Each dog shall be confined within an enclosure on the owner's or custodian's property, secured so that the dog is confined entirely to the owner's or custodian's property, or on a leash not to exceed six feet in length and directly under the owner's or custodian's control when not on the owner's or custodian's property. The provisions of this subsection shall not apply to a park, or an area within a park, that is designated by the Parks and Recreation Board as open to dogs at large.
B. Any dog over the age of three months which is off the owner's or custodian's property shall wear a collar or harness to which is attached a valid license tag. Dogs that are used for control of livestock, being used or trained for hunting or dogs, being exhibited or trained at a kennel club event or engaged in races approved by the Arizona Racing Commission, and while the dogs are being transported to and from such events, need not wear a collar or harness with a valid license attached provided that they are properly vaccinated, licensed and controlled.
C. Any owner, custodian, or other person acting for the owner allowing his or her dog to be at large is in violation of this section.
D. A dog is not at large if:
1. The dog is restrained by a leash, chain, rope or cord of not more than six feet in length and of sufficient strength to control the dog.
2. The dog is being used for control of livestock or being used or trained for hunting or being exhibited or trained at a kennel club event or is engaged in races approved by the Arizona Racing Commission.
3. The dog, whether on or off the premises of the owner, or person acting for the owner, is controlled as provided in subsection F, paragraph 1 of this section, or is within a suitable enclosure which actually confines the dog.
E. When any dog is found at large, the enforcement officer may take the following actions:
1. The dog may be apprehended and impounded. The enforcement agent shall have the right to enter upon private property when necessary to apprehend any dog that has been running at large. Such entrance upon private property shall be in reasonable pursuit of such dog, and shall not include entry into a domicile or enclosure which confines a dog except at the invitation of the occupant or owner.
2. In addition to impoundment, the enforcement agent may issue a citation(s) to the dog owner or person acting for the owner when the dog is at large. The procedure for the issuance of criminal complaints shall be as provided for peace officers in A.R.S. § 13-3903, except the enforcement agent shall not make an arrest before issuing the notice. The issuance of civil complaints shall be as provided in Local Rule 2, Local Rules of Practice, Phoenix Municipal Court. The issuance of misdemeanor citation(s) pursuant to this ordinance shall be subject to provisions of A.R.S. § 13-3899. In lieu of issuing a citation a report may be submitted to the County Attorney or City Prosecutor.
3. In the judgment of the enforcement agent and field supervisor, any dog at large or other animal that is dangerous, vicious, or fierce and a threat to human safety that cannot be safely impounded may be immediately slain. All animal control officers who may be called upon to slay a vicious animal as described above will receive periodic training in the firearm used for this purpose in a manner mutually agreed upon by the City and the enforcement agent. All vicious animals slain will be diagnosed for rabies prior to disposal. Public records will be maintained by the enforcement agent for each vicious animal slaying incident, including the result of the rabies diagnosis performed on the animal.
4. Any dog impounded under this section may be kept impounded until there is a final disposition of any criminal complaint or payment in full of all civil sanctions imposed arising from the alleged violation of this section, provided that the criminal or civil complaint is filed within thirty days of the alleged violation.
F. Penalties.
1. Any dog owner, custodian, or other person acting for the owner or custodian who fails to comply with subsection A or B of this section is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
2. Any dog owner, custodian, or other person acting for the owner or custodian who fails to comply with subsection C but who is otherwise in compliance with subsections A and B is responsible for a civil violation subject to a civil sanction not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars.
3. A second misdemeanor violation of this section within twenty-four months shall be punishable by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars.
4. A third or subsequent misdemeanor violation of this section within twenty-four months shall be punishable by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars.
5. Any misdemeanor violation of this section when the dog has previously been determined to be vicious pursuant to Section 8-16.01 shall be punishable by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars and imprisonment for a term of not less than five days.
6. In no case shall a person convicted of a misdemeanor violation of this section be eligible for suspension or commutation of sentence unless such person is placed on probation with the condition that the minimum fine be paid and term of imprisonment be served.

Thank you so much. This will be useful. I have 30 days to file a complaint, but will be today or tomorrow at the latest.Even though the dog died, it sounds like there is 30 days to file a complaint of what happened. Lots of good info here

yeah, for sure. I wouldnt file a complaint if they didnt do that. The dog is just the start of what happened. It will take me a while to tell them everything, but I WILL!
That sucks, bro. My heart goes out to you. If I'm not mistaken, a verbal threat is technically considered assault. Physically hitting someone is technically battery. Thats why you hear the terms "assault and battery" thrown together - threatening someone and then physical harm. It may be the other way around, or I may be completely mistaken, but there may be something there to help you out.

yeah, they were threatening my life directly telling me what they'd do. Its definately punishable. I have my witnesses as well 3 of them. (not the kids)
by the way, if they put the cat in your driveway and you hit it...tough luck for them, the cat was on YOUR property, and legally, that's trespassing
my girl used to live in arkansas, and one of her neighbors shot her dog with a gun because it was pooping on his lawn, but it was on his property, and he had a freakin gun, and even when police came, they said the man was wrong for shooting the dog, but he had a right to b/c it was his property.
so if u ran over the cat, or even one of your neighbors, per say ;-P, you'd be ok ... j/k bout the neighbors part, but legally, they can't do anything to you, so don't worry about that.
the hardest part about stuff like this is the people, regardless of legality because even if they sue you, and you win, u still have to worry about their lame asses holding a grudge against you.
I salute you in the way you handled the situation, cause I wouldn't know what to do either in a situation like this, but it seems you handled very professionally. You'd hope these people are human enough to sit down nicely and discuss the matter, but instead they bring "backup" and try to scare you, which obviously means they are not the civilized bunch. If you loved your dog that much, you'd be a semi-decent person, and not bring hoodlums to threaten you.
If u want my honest opinion, i think they are bunch of pet knabbers that do **** like to **** to try to get money out of it. This is not a rare occurance, many people do this to try to sue and get money, but unfortunately, they don't know the law and employ stupids methods like letting dogs run loose on streets, and place cats in the way of other people's driveways and other lowlife methods.
Best thing to do it know the law, notify authorities <-- you have to do this at least, so the locals know, make friends with all the neighbors so your chances of detecting sabatoge is greatly increase, purchase a security system from fry's ($100-$300) and set it up around our your house's perimeter to keep track. Don't be afraid to be paranoid, u have kids and your other half you have to protect =) do anything u can to do it.
no matter what happens, find someway to avoid conflict with them. Even if they are doing something retarded...if you can be the bigger man (as you have already done) and ignore their petty attempts at preying on your benevolence, they'll hopefully give up with time. Of course, as long as what they are doing doesn't have anything to do with threatening you or your family's life.
Dunno if this will work, but if it were me, i know i don't wanna **** with ppl like that, i'd buy a small present, like food, beer, or something like that and formally appologize in person and say how you don't want there to be any problems between the two families etc. etc. and see how that goes. Bottom line is family, and life comes first, even if you have to try to persuade a bunch of garbage to leave you alone, cause you gotta do everything in your power to avoid violence. (if i had my way, i'd round up everyone affiliated with them and shoot em, so no one will be left to avenge them...but the world is never like that, and never going to be like that =D)
I sincerely feel for you, rage, fear and concern, and I hope things will go well...good luck

yeah, it sucks having a grudge with neighbors. There wasnt a need for any of what they did. I understand they were upset. They didnt need the backup like you said. They should have come over and talked like humans. I would have been a little upset as well, but not act like that in the slightest form. They made me have such a hate for them. They are lucky they didnt touch me or my girl, or they would have been feeling the wrath for a very long time. as well as family members, friends, etc.
Weve been wanting the homeowners to come by for a week or so now, and they havent. We have so much garbage in front of our garage due to them. A few beer cans, about 200 cig butts that werent there 2 weeks ago. We actually checked when we were moving in, there was 1 on the ground, papers, plastic, ****.
If they are renting it will be a lot easier to get them taken care of, but Im unsure of that. With their mentality I doubt they will ever own a house.

I should chuck my clutch at their cat.
oh, and we have sort of a common driveway, there are 18 condos that use our little driveway. Were at the end. so it wouldnt necessarily be considered private property, more like common grounds/personal right to use facilities.

i'm not familiar with real estate of that design, but it doesn't sound like a fun situation. if you can get them on video litering and stuff, I bet you can get them kicked out.
it would be slick to try to and get them to like you somehow, and then get them kicked out so they won't suspect you and come back to try and do something to ya, know what i mean?

my girl used to live in arkansas, and one of her neighbors shot her dog with a gun because it was pooping on his lawn, but it was on his property, and he had a freakin gun, and even when police came, they said the man was wrong for shooting the dog, but he had a right to b/c it was his property.
so if u ran over the cat, or even one of your neighbors, per say ;-P, you'd be ok ... j/k bout the neighbors part, but legally, they can't do anything to you, so don't worry about that.
the hardest part about stuff like this is the people, regardless of legality because even if they sue you, and you win, u still have to worry about their lame asses holding a grudge against you.

You win an award for the longest post I've ever seen. How long did that take to type?
