they look fine to me, but i doubt they'll last beyond 15k. I would just put stock plugs in. I couldn't tell a difference running iridium. Then felt like the engine was struggling and thats when I found they were messed up.

Those plugs look pretty good. You can still run them. But i went with the bosch +4. I noticed a big diff in the high end and over all mpg. It also depends on how you drive. If you drive hard you should change plugs more often. I was told by a parts store here that ngk is owned by a us plug company I forgot which one. But when he told me I was kinda shocked.
thanx alot guys for the info!
however............i though it's probably a good summer DIY....considering i changed em last year...........so................
welcome to: Denso IK-20!

thing i notice most for now...
-much better acceleration in lower RPM.... 0-3000RPM
-engine doesn't jerk anymore during shifting...it's just smoother
-better responce when you press the gas pedal.......it's zoom zoom now

i use nkg iridiums. i bought the car 5 months ago and changed the plugs immedietly. and the oil too. anyway the manual says 100k for the plugs but i call bs. my ride had 56k when i bought it. and i pulled the old plugs and they looked a little old. i guess they were originals. 01 model. anyway, i suggest you change your plugs TRANSFORMED. you will feel a difference. and the iridiums are way cheaper price than the stock platinums, and they are better too. 4 cost me 7 bucks. have fun.
lol...
i first changed my plugs at about 26K miles........
it was a year ago........with NGK iridium IX...about 6.99 each...
they run great all along the year.....gas MPG definitely boosted...
this summer, after 12K miles, i changed it with Denso Iridium IK-20....that's like 12.99 each...LOL
definitely feel better performance.......
FYI....stock plugs....are like 10.99 each if im not wrong...they're DENSO platinum...

like gear said, it might be just on my head........
but again, there's nothing wrong to change em this year......lol.......
i also suspect a foul on my old........maybe because i recently use a fuel system cleaner? there seems to be an oily look on the top of the plug (not the tip)...

^hehe, you definitely do.
well, take a moment to think about it............
ngk iridium ix? 6.99 each....
stock denso platinum? for some strange reason, they're 11 something..
denso iridium IK-20? about 12 each....
don't ever think about bosch..........they're not good for our car

our civic has a seperate ignition pack for each spark plug. that means alot of power. so its hot. platinum plugs are stock cause they run "cool" so to say. meaning the tip stays cooler than normal plugs when the firing continues. so platinum 4s can be all the platinums they want but iridiums are cooler than platinums. i have only had the stocks and iridiums so i don't know if bosch is ok or not. i didn't even know bosch made plugs for our rides.

The heat range of a plug has many factors other than what it is made out of. It has to do with the depth of the insulation etc etc. http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinf...000&country=US
I just looked this up and it has alot of really good facts.

Denso Iridium IK-20
I have about 45K miles with them and they still look good, yesterday when I checked them.
I istalled them at about 65k-70K miles and now have over 114K miles and the cars still responds well.

don't really have the exact fact about bosch plugs..
but.....my opinion was strictly due to the opinion of couple other guys who shared their experience with them in their vic...
i also heard that they respond better in european car.......not japanese...

I changed my plugs last week. My car has 95K miles and I was still running stock plugs. They still looked OK, insulator and electrodes were intact.
I went for NGK Iridiums. HUGE improvement in throttle response, smoothness and most importantly fuel mileage. This is a very cheap upgrade, they'll probably pay for themselves in a few months in fuel savings...
