I am just curious to which paint should be used when attempting to black out your headlights? I want good long term results and a paint that can handle the temps. I am going to try this one out today.

A lot of people use high temp engine paint or bbq grill paint with a plastic primer. I used actual NHBP car paint with a car clear coat on top of plastic primer for mine so that it matches the car perfectly. Heat really isnt an issue because you arent close enough to the bulbs. I did mine in Jan and they still look perfect.

I used grill paint for mine...I have a magnesium metallic color car and this paint said black but its so flat it almost looks like a greyish paint. It matches my car perfectly. I think any type of paint will work but I would use some type of paint that can handle heat. Get a high-temp paint. Also get 600-1000 grit sandpaper and sand the chrome really well all over before you spray. Just do lights coats so you dont have to worry about runs. Took me about 4-5 coats to get it like I wanted. Good luck and you can PM me if you have any questions.

i used silicone, the one that is mean for windows and glass frames for 2 reasons, 1. its clear so if its alittle messy its not noticeable. 2. its water proof. its made by GE i think its GE Silicone II or something like that. i picked it up in sears for 3 bucks. ive had mine done now for 1 month or so, and it hasnt fogged yet. and its been through alot of rain and hot/cold temps...

yeah, I used Krylon plastic paint, its not high temp. But they look the same as when I first did them. Im only 20 or so minutes from him, so we have the same temps. very hot here, and the lights are fine
