Question regarding Intake..
Question regarding Intake..
wats up fellaz..i had a quick question...do you guys think this would work...if I just bought a generic Intake System off of Ebay, and then bought like a K&N filter or a AEM filter and just put that on it...would it be just as effective, cause i mean, the piping is all the same, right?
basically, i think as long as you have a good filter on there, and smooth cornering piping then you'll be fine. i mean my freind got his sri on his jetta off ebay for like 50 while i piad like 200 for my aem cai one from like cardomain.com.

he has a 02 1.8T jetta. gains i could feel them. no problems, becasue it was made for his car and came with a k&n air filter with a heat deflector shield. for the 7th gen civic, aem for example, makes their cai and sri using 2.5 inch piping, so you would be able to buy a aem or k&n filter online to match that diameter.

Gains for an intake are very light. Any intake.
AEM and K&N don't want you to realize it, but the piping really doesn't matter all that much... whereas a CAI or SRI might get you a .5 second gain on the quarter mile (yeah right), the type of filter might affect that +/- .1 second.
Personally, I got mine for the sound. I like the sound my car has, not too loud, not too soft. And the intake just helps that.

just make sure you replace the rubber tube that you use to connect the intake to throttle body. Someone's jut broke in half. Otherwise just change the filter and you're good.
