Tire size to fit on stock 14x5.5 rims???

I have 2001 Civic LX with 14x5.5 stock rims with 185/70/14 tires and I want to get good performance tires on them.....probably Bridgestone Potenza RE950 195/65/HR14.

- Can I safely fit 195/65/14 on 14x5.5 ? I am concerned about 195 width. Will the tire stick out too much and will it be safe in corners?

- Does anybody have this setup. If yes, do you like it and can I see pictures?

Thanks.

People shoehorn 215s onto 5.5s. its Fine
RE950s aren't performance tires and if you want a better selection, go to a 15" Rim.

It is good to hear that I can fit 195/65/14.

Bridgestone Potenza RE950 are classifed as "High Performance All-Season" tires according to tirerack.

High performance and all season are 2 phrases that don't go with each other. They can call them whatever they want.

I agree with you that all-season means no-season, but I think that is best performing tire I can put on this 14x5.5 wheel. When I lived in Canada I had summer tires and a good performing winter tires, but now I am married and trying to get the car perform better but no to stiff for kids. So I am planning to put Tokico shocks, Suspension Technique rear sway-bar and some good tires.

If you have any suggestion besides upgrading to different wheels, I am happy to take it.............that's why I posted this in the first place.

QUESTION:
Can I safely put 205/60/HR14 Yokohama AVS ES100 Summer performance tires on these stock 14x5.5 wheels???? Do you know anybody who did this??

Thanks.

Freestyle.
