I was browsing Internet the other night and came across some interesting stuff. So, all of you who give sceptical opinions about D17 with bolt-ons and all of you who truly believes that D17 is a step forward of Honda's engineers.....Forget about personal opinions, I have found what we all like: numbes, numbers, numbers.
All of you who doesnt like D17, no need to read further!

A magazine makes money from its advertisers. If Import Tuner went around saying " this product does little to nothing for your car" I don't think they would be in business long. Some magazine are honest about that kind of thing and some just word their conclusions funny.Instead of saying "don't bother with this mod", they say " it's an O.K. mod". They are always using excuses for parts not making power, instead of just saying "it doesn't help to add this part".
For those guys that say don't bother with "mods", I have a story. I pulled up next to Civic( same year) on the freeway. He had four people in his car, I just had me. I shift down to third, he goes and I go. He slowly pulls away from me, but then I have to exit. He had at least an exhaust, I was stock. If mods do nothing, why did he pull away? Some people, on this site, not only say it does nothing but we lose power. To them I say

well either way its not worth bitchen about. believe what you want. personally i say try it (and i did) and if you dont think it makes more power you can always take it off. but it makes sense because it works on every other car so why not the d17? i really dont think it lets you rev higher though because adding more air wouldnt allow it to rev higher by itself.

theres no bs on that 7gc article. that 6+ gain in hp and 3.7+ gain in torque would be based on a certain rpm, i can bet that was during the 5k and up rpm range. they didnt lie either... "Considering the fact that only two power products were installed onto the Civic, we noticed a great improvement in mid- to top-end performance on the highway and on the dyno."
this is true as bolt ons rob your low end and give you the mid-high end right?
but $840 for a second of 6hp and 3.7tq... idk
Thats a old artice from Import Tuner, I though the numbers were ok, the car is on 18" wheels too. I don't think the DC TCS is a free flowing exhaust, not one of my favorites. The numbers they gave are peak, it made more in the midrange too.
This is the dumbest article ever written...........You spend 850.00 bucks on two modifications and get 6hp...........that is ABUSRD........most likely the dumbest waist of money and time ever.........these import magazines are getting dumber and dumber by the minute. Im gonna say it again so everyone might possibly read it...........ITS ABOUT FUEL MILEAGE....the Honda Civic is not a fast car and never will be. Do yourselves a favor and stick to cosmetic mods.

guess what you guys...companies will try and trick you with their dyno. One trick is to only show the hp. Well hp only comes into play above 5k rpms. They don't show you torque which is everything below that. Also they say max hp, but that doesn't mean anything. You have to look at the WHOLE curve.

ok its like this. first. yes we all love our d17's. i do anyway. and yes we get awesome mpg. yes our air box is restrictive. yes if we put a aftermarket intake it Would help get more air into the TBI. meaning better cumbustion, therefore making higher horsepower. yes its stupid to waste 800 bucks for 6 horsepower. with 800 bucks you can get alot more than an intake and exhaust. yes an after market intake lowers torque. big deal hondas have crap torque anyway. they are made to eat high rpms for breakfast lunch and dinner. i would give up some torque for some horsepower. thats what VTEC is about. torque at lower rpms and horsepower at higher. enough ranting. i love my d17a2 also. i think honda will stay with this one for a while.
