Do you really need to have the bushings for short shift?

I am going to get the Revo SS but I see the bushings and don't get it. Couldnt I just use a washer from HD in there, that is what they look like.
Just looking for the difference and if anyone has a SS without the bushings?

You dont really need the bushings....you dont even realize they are there untill you really wrench on your shifter. And dont be bootleg and try to make your own they are more then just washers.

I dont have them, and dont really need them, I feel it's smooth enough as is.... just get yourself a weighted ****.
PM capyoda and you'll supply the info... and there is no full DIY

Thanks guys, Il be getting the Revo soon and Ill try it out with the stocks for a bit, then after awhile switch over.
speaking of shifters, I tried to get one and put it on but what do you do about the boot? It has that little lock plastic piece and without it the cover just sits at the bottom, anyway to set it up so it works right?

One guy had a nice idea for a fix for the boot. He used a big spring and that held up the piece. I myself just bought a new boot and shifter but without the beauty ring it doesn't look good. Working on a fix around that.

You can even use no bushings, and have a very precise tight shift. I have the stock ones, but for a little while, had none on. it was much tighter as I slammed gears, but you risk stripping some sh** w/out the bushings. They make a slight difference, but are not needed. Im not going to get them anytime soon if ever.

I have capyoda bushings, and I like the solid feel of the shifter. However, if you want something between the bushings and stock, the RSX-S bushings are solid rubber and are much harder than stock but still give just a little bit if you slam it. I found this out when installing the solid bushings in an RSX. In retrospect, there was little gain. In the civic, the stock bushings are so soft, it makes a big difference.
