Its illegal in Quebec .. I doubt its legal in Ontario. But well, perhaps R1Style can chirp in, as I know he's done his. Perhaps he has/hasn't gotten problems...

I know my black tails haven't gotten a peep out of the police yet But I'm still waiting on it

i was at JDM tire today and convieniently there was a cop in line right in front of me so i asked him if tinting tails was legal. he said it was legal as long as the light shines red and it shines through it.

i am going to ask one more cop to make sure, hoping that this guy just wasnt talking out of his ***.

This is a grey area.... It all depends on how dark you go.
My tails are tinted pretty dark but light still shines through it. At night you can't even tell I have smoked tails but in the day they're a little more dim then usual.
Like the cop said... as long as light is visible through the tint and it's red... you'll be ok... also I think the reflectors on your tail lights still have to reflect light (mine do a little only at night).

Anyways... I haven't been pulled over... yet.

I believe a red reflector still has to visible/useful, so completely blacking them out would likely be illegal.

its not illegal to tint your tails in ontario....

i had mine tinted for a while... had no problems with cops at all.

as long as you leave the "white" reflector un tinted.... everything is fine.

Really depends on the cop, if he wants to be an arsehole theres definatly nothing stopping him from giving you a ticket. When you get to court you probably could win as long as you can proove its not too dark.

You probably wouldn't be harrased by Toronto Police seeing as how most of the time they got better sh*t to do but all those smaller town cops & opp is what you have to be worried about. Especially when they pull you over for going fast and dont have the radar gun reading to give you a ticket, they like to circle your car and just look for stupid stuff. Small town cops are the W O R S T

Just dont tint em too dark, not for ticket reasons but more for the fact that getting rear ended hurts.
