my steering wheel jitters
my steering wheel jitters
ok, today i was driving on a 3 lane road, i was in the left lane, some truck comes up from behind me in the middle lane and starts to merge into me, well i tried to slow down and get out of his way but it almost seemed like he slowed down as well, and i went right up on the curb. it slowed me down alot i wanna say i was doing about 30 maybe a little faster, cant remember it happened so fast. i know you guys are gonna say how did you not get out of it, i dont know, this has been pulled on me before, but i always get away without hitting the curb or the car. well now at about 40 mph or higher my steering wheel starts shaking, like your shaking a can or spray paint real hard but doesnt move that much. it doesnt affect the steering, meaning it doesnt make me swerve back and forth. if i try to hold the wheel hard and push on it, it makes it do it less. and it sorta stops when i hit the gas. but once i let off the gas, it starts the shaking. i looked at it and the only damage i can see is rim rash, about 1/4 of the lips on both front and back left rims are scraped. no bumps in the rims, that i can see. i have 17 black rims with 215/45 falken tires. thanks for all input i know it was long but i could use some suggestions as to what it might be.

ONe of your tires has been damanged or the wheel weight has fallen off. Get them re balanced and if that doesn't solve the problem, then you might have bent a LCA.
I ran off the ran like a month after I had my car and it bent my castor on the front right. The alignment gets close to perfect, but it will never be perfect because of that castor. You may want to have that checked out as well.
we checked for the wheel weight, its still there, like i said the rim isn't visibly bent, it just got scraped, i'll proabably get them balanced to check. its not the lca, just replaced that not long ago, and checked it again, nothing i can see. yes the camber and caster are both ****ed up on front and back, but they were before this happened and even though i hit the curb it seems like it didnt make it much worse if it did. i really want to take it to the dealership and have them look at it and have insurace pay for it, but i dont think they will cover it.

the shake is NOT caused because of the alignmnet, as Rob said above get the tires checked for balance, and wouldnt be a bad idea to have the alignmnet checked to make sure you didnt cause any suspension problems that will cause tire wear in the future!
yes im pretty sure its not alignment, thats been ****ed up for a little bit and i do need to get that taken care of, but i had to buy new wheels and tires first and im still paying that off, so it might be a little while.
well for those of you who wanted to know, i did get them balanced, one was off .5 ounce, the other was .75 ounce. and both of them were warped, the rear was more wicked though. so i just switched them and i may haveto call the geico to buy me new rims or i may just buy them myself. oh and the shaking went away.
