Short Ram VS Cold Air Intake
Dont know much about both, but my general question is which one is better for a 2002 Civic LX 5spd Coupe?
Pro's and Con's for both sides is greatly appreciated. (Which is louder, etc)
With the $ i have now, Short Ram seems to be the most sensible...
Thanks!

CAI is louder. In the summer it will probably increase performance the most, in the winter it's better to go with SRI due to possible hydrolock (although this risk can be minimized by useing a bypass).
I would *NEVER* want to go back to stock airbox...

SRI
pros - easier to install, cheaper to buy
cons - heat soak
CAI
pros - doesnt heat soak, better performance than SRI
cons - can hydrolock, more exspensive, harder to install for beginner
louder... CAI? there probably both same loudness. which one is better? its up to you for what you want from it. in general, intakes give from .5-2hp at the most on our civics...
some buy it for sound <------

short ram intake will give you better high end power but you loose some torque. and yes SRI is easier to install and is cheaper to buy. to me it really dont matter if its a CAI or SRI because either way, you not gonna get very much power gains out of it.

Ok! I've used both SRI and CAI... So I have experience with both... SRI should and is louder than CAI because the CAI has more bends so it makes it more quiet... Personally I can barely notice a difference in both. SRI is louder and CAI has better high end.
SRI:
pros:
-easier to install
-better low end torque
-better throttle reponse
-louder
-cheaper to buy
cons:
-heat soak like the others said
-high end is not as good as a CAI
CAI:
pros:
-better high end performance
cons:
-possibility to hydrolock but can be fixed with bypass valve. (but I say unless you're driving through puddles all the time you should be fine... I have a AEM CAI and I've driven through pouring rain and my car's fine!)
-more expensive
-not as loud
-harder to install
-worst low end torque

^ that's a good way of making your own cai system ... it's gonna be a little harder for the d17 though.
injen cai > aem cai ... this applies for our cars as well. injen filter is in the wheel well while aem's filter is next to the transmission and header.
