a couple slightly related questions

when i had an alignment done almost a year ago, they said my ball joints were a little worn in the front, worse in the rear. i'm going to be changing my suspension fairly soon, and here's my ?'s (i have a k20a2 motor, btw)

1) if i've taken everything apart, ball joints aren't a difficult replacement correct? any pointers? i know to be careful about the tie rod ends, but i might have already goofed those last time. my suspension makes a ton of noise, and this year i'm going to try to make it right.

2) i would like suggestions as to what to replace my current suspension with (konis and eibach pro kit for RSX). i'm not auto-x'ing ever (no PS) but i do drag occasionally. i have little $ for suspension, and have been considering stock RSX springs and tokico shocks for an 01 civic. is traction going to be much harder to come by with this when launching? should i just keep my eibachs, will the help my tires stay down?

thanks a lot, i've done this before with help, but i want to do it right this time. i get popping from the front strut plate spinning when i turn the wheel, clunking all around, and a squeek when i hit any bump in the road. it is so bad, i am just going to try to redo as much as i can to make it right

Xenin is an unknown quantity at this point
what kind of tokico shocks are you planning to put? if you plan on launching better you'd need adjustable dampening to keep the front to the ground. blues wont help you there but d-specs would. they make d-specs for the civic but i'm not sure if they make them for the rsx.

i have konis that are meant for a civic right now, with rsx springs. i know blues aren't adjustable, but they're gonna be stiffer than stock i figure

I dont think there are any ball joints, but bushings instead. The only thing that close to a ball joint that I recall is the tie rod end. To replace the bushings your going to need a press or take it to a shop that has one.

How are Tokico's going to be better the the Konis you have now? The Koni's can be dialed up firmer the the Tokicos i believe. Or are you wanting to replace the Konis becuase you think theyre the cause of your noise issues?

the koni's are a tad old. and i want maybe a little softer ride. i'm trying to do it on the cheaper side but adequate. the konis/installation are more than likely my source of noise

the manual has ball joint removal and boot installation. but it always looks easier than it ends up being. just curious.

To get a softer ride you'll most likey need different springs or tires. Konis are jsut a tiny bit firmer then stock at their softest setting. The ball joint remover and boot install are for the tie rod ends.
