poll: best (or favorite) brand of gasoline??

I've been using Mobil in my '01 Civic just because there is a Mobil station every where I turn around these parts. I'm curious if some brands are better than others. I would like to try Texaco but their prices are much higher than Mobil where I live. What do you guys use? Any comments on which gives the best performance (I'm talking brands, not octane levels)?

Gas is too expensive? Around here it is about $1.15/gallon, which is about 20¢ a gallon more than it was a few weeks ago, but still pretty cheap. It's a lot better than a year ago when it was $2 a gallon. I typically use Unocal 76 because its usually the cheapest. I try to avoid Arco because they don't put any additives in their gas. I've heard it is all the same, but oh well, I have my preferences

Chevron all the way with their clean gas. They have the cleanest restrooms and have alot of stuff in stock if your hungry. Shell has crappy restrooms, and Texaco is too expensive. So use Chevron with Techron! $1.15 for 93 octane.

i can't belive people are complaining that gas is expensive at a whopping $1.15 a gallon. i pay almost that for the cheap stuff and have no problem. it's better than 2 bucks like somebody said. anyways, i use the cheap mobil gas. never used anything else in my other car and it ran great for it's 7 years of living. i know you don't want to hear about octane levels, but the mid range stuff, at most gas stations is just a mix of what's left in two tanks on the truck.

I don't care what brand it is as long as it's the cheapest and lasts me a long time.

I read somewhere that Shell is the only petroleum company that owns the same land that they drill on, so in theory they're the ones who are best able to control the quality of their automotive gasoline. Plus if you buy tons of gas like I do (a few hundred bucks a month, even at low Texas prices!), the Shell mastercard really makes sense.

But any name-brand gas should be just fine. Stay away from the dirt cheap places like Diamond Shamrock and RaceTrac - they are dirt cheap for a good reason!

Down here in PR I use Esso(which is Exxon)...love Tiger Market ...and Shell...and a few times Texaco...which all have approx. the same price...$1.10/gallon 87 and $1.20/gallon 93...not bad....there are cheaper gas stations but these are the ones I prefer...

BP or SHell, both run great in my car.....Avg around here is $1.10 for 87 octane...but it fluctuates anywhere from $0.99 to $1.25 the past two months...

Hmm...the nearest Chevron is almost 10 miles away (according to the online Yellow Pages). Texaco and Shell are too expensive around here. Maybe I'll just stick with Mobil. What is that Techron stuff that Chevron has? Something gimmicky? Or something real?

Don't worry so much about what brand of gas you feed your car. Many times, different companies use the same refineries to make their gas, and there is no chemical difference at all in it. The only small difference that I know of is the detergent additives (like 'techron') but all companies have about the same detergents as well. So except for the independent gas station in a bad section of town which may water it down a little just buy the cheap stuff. Of course octane numbers are a different story...
