Details on DIY blacking out headlights on 04+

Im gonna black out my headlights, now my question is to all the guys who have already done it. What kind of pain did you use, high temp, flat black and so on. After the first coat of paint was put on, did you spray on some clear coat afterwards ? How long did it take for the paint to dry ? And do i have to remove my bumper to get out my lenses ? Thanxs for any feedback i get, you'll definitely get some rep points...

blacking out is really easy. all you gotta do it put it in the oven to get the silicone soft so you can pry it open or use a hairdryer. i used the hairdryer and i think it's a lot easier than the oven. use flat black high temp paint and i think it looks better without clear coat. between coats i usually waited 15-20 mins. and yes you do have to take off the front bumper to get to your headlight.

I just did my headlights on my '05. I made a thread with pics of it in this section. It was super easy. Yes you have to take the bumper off which only takes about 5-10 mins depending on how quick you are. There is a DIY on the 04 headlights, but I cant seem to find it now. Basically, how I did it was much like the DIY said. Once you get the headlights out, preheat the oven to 225 degrees and leave em in there for about 3 mins, the last 2 mins, leave em in but turn off the oven. Then take em out and pull em apart. I used high heat flat black paint. Read the thread and I explained the rest in there after the painting process. Good luck with it.

a heat gun will work, but make sure you dont overheat the headlight, which is really easy with a heat gun. You dont want to ruin the headlight

I heard that a few coats of primer then a few coats of high temp black paint will do the job. Yall agree ?
