Good Race: Ford Focus vs. Minivan

Ok, so I was driving my g/f's completely stock Ford Focus last night b/c she sucks at driving, so I said I was going to drive her car. He friend who was following us home had a Dodge Minivan, not sure which model though, but one of the newer ones. We both pulled up to the red light and decided to ahve some fun. I revved at the minivan, and her friend revved back, the race was on! Both cars were automatics, btw. I held down the brake and revved the car as high as it would go with the car in drive, about 2k RPM. We both launched smoothly, but I soon began to take a 1/2 car length lead on the minivan. We were vast approaching a lane merge that was about 1/4 mile after the light and one of us had to take the lead and go first, so we continued to gun it to see who would win. Slowly, but surely, the Focus took the lead as the Minivan let off the gas, we were currently going about 60-65 mph at full throttle.

Overall, it was a good race. The minivan with 2 passengers and a driver was able to keep pretty good pace with the Focus that only had 2 people in it. I can now come to the conclusion that my g/f's Focus that does 0-60 in about 12+ seconds, is the slowest POS I have ever driven. lol

Isn't a Ford Focus pretty much equal to a stock 7th gen in terms of 0-60?

I wonder which car's tranny would have broke down 1st..... and there is no shame in losing to a Minivan b/c Civic's are some of the slowest new cars on the road.

Maybe a bone stock, 150-hp 1.8T automatic

This race sounds like the time the Jetta was in the shop for hydrolock, and I took my girlfriend's escort ZX2 to the weekly car meets. Of course, some LS integra talks ****, and he actually lost to the ford. Funny as hell.

Some of the bigger V6 minivans are capable of high 15's, but for the most part, they'll run in the 16's.

V8 trucks are somewhat underestimated as well. A 4,000 lb truck with a 350hp V8 has a better power/weight ratio than a 2000 lb CRX with a 160 HP b16. Gearing still is a factor, though.
