Smoked Lights
I just showed my dad my smoked tails and he is making me show him proof that they are legal. Do any of you know any of the legal documentation that shows that they are indeed legal? Thanks. I live in California by the way.

i don't know if you can find legal docs (especially in california) but so far i haven't had a problem. traffic cop stopped me with them on and it's no problem (but this was at night). if anything, drive with your parking light on.

CALIFORNIA VEHICLE CODE
24800. No vehicle shall be driven at any time with the parking
lamps lighted except when the lamps are being used as turn signal
lamps or when the headlamps are also lighted.

in california, i think the reflector has to show within 500 feet?

all in all, i guess "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" sort of applies. i've been lucky so far.

Rep Power: 0 I just got pulled over and giving a 120 dollar fix it ticket (yet they said i couldnt fix it?) yes they are illegal and if the cop is a douche bag, except the few good ones, they will give you a ticket. Seriously though they need to catch someone speeding not someone with a darkened tail light, prioity's people!
$120! Damn makes me rethink having smoked tails........... 
wtf 120..****..i asked a cop if having smoked taillights were illegal he said, as long as u can see RED/Reflector from 300 feet, u'll be alright. but u still have a chance of being stopped..
