Made a few passes on my friends dyno today.

My friends bought a mobile dyno, started their own business a few months ago and have been taking it to events all over the area. Well today they set it up in a local parking lot and I decided to see what I was putting down.

First Run: 111.3 HP and 105.1 TQ in 3rd gear

Sec. Run: 107.2 HP and 104.2 TQ in 3rd gear

Last Run: 100.7 HP and 99.7 TQ in 4th gear

Was expecting a bit more. It was 80 degrees out though, high humidity, the sun was beaming down and we didn't let the car cool down that long(all 3 were done in a 10 min period). V2 intake was pretty hot. Hate that damn thing!!! As you can tell the numbers got lower, most likely because of this. 4th gear pull made peak power at 5500 rpm then fell out a bit. Don't know why? Need to get a wideband and see what's going on. Maybe SAFC or emanage and some tuning would help out.
I'll post sheets up later after they email them to me. The printed out one's didn't come out so great but I'll post em for now.

I was expecting 115. So I guess I was pretty close, but I'd like to do it again on a different dyno inside somewhere cooler(not in the hot *** sun) and maybe get a CAI. That 4th gear drop off sux too. Need to find out what's going on there.

not bad at all. Its not the intakes fault about getting hot. For you, I would think about getting a metal ebay intake heat shield for the filter and some thermotec intake wrap for the pipe. But at least get the heat shield. After I get the typhoon on with heat shield, I'll be doing another dyno soon.

That was back when temps were in the 50's. Probally would dyno a few extra ponies in cooler weather. The sun was beaming today(dynoed in the middle of a parking lot). Temps are now 80-90's with damn near 100% humidity. I ran a 15.3 two weeks ago on DR's(high 80's for temp) and last night I ran 15.7's all night on my new Azenis at a different track with a strong 10mph head wind. 2.2 60ft's on the azenis every run compared to the 2.0's I normally pull on DR's. So if I had ran DR's I would have probally ran a 15.4-15.5. 15.3 or better maybe without the wind?
So I would say I ran a 15.3 with 111hp. 15.1 with a few extra ponies. Also I trapped 90mph when it was cooler, now I'm only trapping 86-87. So higher temps def. have slowed me down which probally means I'm making less power. Soon it won't matter what temp it is out side cause my intake temp will be 10-20F . One more thing I was pretty happy with 105 ft/lbs of torque. Haven't seen any other NA D17's making over 100 with just bolt ons.

How'd you get so good of a 60 foot if the ambient temp was in the 50's. that would mean the track would be colder and harder to launch on unless you ran at night and the sun heated the track up earlier in the day.

Have fun with nitrous BTW. Don't suck at ur 60 foot like I did.

the temp has alot to do with numbers being low. Its kinda odd tho because I've seen stock ex dynos around 100-110whp. And your mods should have put you higher, even with lx.

Gearbox youve been here for what.......4 years? You should know by now that intake and exhaust does not give 10+ whp.

Redline04

Was this dyno with powersteering and ac belts on?

He will shortly unless he has a freezer in his car connected to his intake.

It was on a sunny December day. Track was warm, air was cold. Perfect conditions.

Gearbox, I too thought I would put down a bit more. I guess it was the heat or maybe the dyno? There was an automatic CL Type-S that put down only 210whp with I/H/E. But then again don't most people Dyno 85-90whp stock on DX's and around 100whp with mods. What about the torque? 105 seems pretty good. You made around 90 right?

Dizzle this was with power steering belt off, ac is still hooked up. Was going to take it out but it's too fauking hot!!!

I don't have N20, but I'm gonna order that new NX wet kit very soon.

i still think its an accomplishment, cause obviously hp is only part of it. Just look at the great 1/4 times you're getting. Enough to beat the average civic around here at least.

i had similar results as your dyno at the track the other weekend. the more i ran, hte slower my times got. didnt really give the motor time to cool down.
Went from 15.9 all the way down to 16.7

Congrats on the 15.9

I still dynoed more than this EX with I/H/E.
http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/tech/0203ht_nx/

I guess that's pretty good considering I started with 10whp less.

Is there a thread that explains in detail how to take the powersteering belt out. Is it alot of trouble or really easy?
