and why would you do that...i guess the removal of carpet makes you run a 17.8 instead of 17.9
as for Cheap DIY's..why not black out your headlights....and you can get some neuspeed lowering springs for pretty cheap...lowering the car is the best way to make your car LOOK fast

So in-expensive springs do nothing? Upgraded Swaybars (RSX) do nothing? I/H/E does nothing? NOS?
While granted yes, reducing weight helps considerably... but how much can you really do, and still have a daily driver?
Is losing 100 lbs of weight, gonna make you quicker in an Auto-X course than a set of springs? Make ya faster down the strip than I/H/E?
Last I checked, the only way to reduce weight, freely, was to start ripping out spare tire, jack, seats, carpet, speakers, headliner, headunit... but then you've got a gutted stock civic which would suck.
Now if you did meaningful lightening mods.... lightweight battery, light weight racing seats, light weight wheels, header (vs. heavy cast iron manifold), test pipe (inplace of a heavy Cat-Converter), light weight titanium exhaust... Now we're talkin!

I guess the only cheap perf. upgrade you could do, would be to gut the cat, or run a test pipe... you'll throw a CEL, but it'll make you go faster, cheaply!

Although when the AC clutch isn't engaged, the parasitic losses are quite low. How much does the stock AC unit and condenser weigh?

my cousin did this a few years ago on his beater Corolla, just opened up the stock airbox and drive. It sounded like he had an aftermarket intake. Didnt do this for long though... replaced with an aftermarket 1.

instead of tightening the cable, look under your gas pedal (inside the car), there is a black piece of plastic that stops the pedal when its allt he way down. There is a bolt or two holding it on, just take that piece off, and you hit WOT. Its more reliable, and it is the perfect amount of extra throttle to hit WOT, and not break something. DO NOT TIGHTEN the cable. Cars with extra slack have the piece under the pedal, so always look there first.

You dont reach WOT, because there is slack in the cable. If you can press the pedal down more, you get more throttle, giving you WOT. I understand its more jumpy with the tighter cable, but you risk tightening it too much and breaking something. This way, you get the same throttle as tightening, but in a safer way. Do you understand??
