Help Pick Springs!!
Hey guys i'm debating whether I should get the Eibach Pro-Kit, Tein S-Tech or the H&R Sports springs. i have no idea what the pro's and cons are of these but different friends recommended different springs. the friend that recommended the tein s-techs told me H&R sag in long run.. i'm looking to get springs that'll last me for a while and WONT sag, as you can tell by the choice of springs, i'm going for a mild drop, max being 1.5" drop not much of a fan of slamming my car so yea... it would be greatly appreciated if people with any of these springs could give me some input on how long they've had the springs and how they are on the car, and if the spring drop is what they say they are... thanks
If you choose to put springs in your ride in time you WILL need struts otherwise the OEM's will blow out on you. Some have been ok for 20k miles while others have only lasted 4k miles before they blew out. H&R springs should give you the lowest drop about .5- .75 inch drop. I don't know what they're talking about. The eibach's are common to most. As for the Tein's never experienced except for their coilovers. Just remember if you only put springs on then other areas of your car will wear quicker. i.e. tires being off camber, more work on other joints of your car. If you really want to lower your car you will need minimum three things 1- springs, 2- struts, 3- camber plates.

My Eibach Sportlines that I bought used for 80 bucks over two years ago havent sagged one bit. They have a million mile warranty and the drop is about 1.5" like advertised.

from what the companies website say about the drops, they claim 1" for Eibach Prokit, 1.3" for H&R and 1.3" front and 1.4" back for Tein S-Techs, could people tell me if these claims are true and if not how much more did it drop to become after the springs settled in... i'm only asking about springs cuz my friends are getting me springs for my car for my birthday so it'd be great if people could help me out a little more thanks guys

I was really happy with the Goldlines I had for a few years. Granted, I blew the OEM shocks, but they gave a really nice, even drop. I suggest you think about getting at least some Tokico Blues if get em.
Honestly, save up a few extra bucks and get at least a set of Tein Basics or the Omnipowers when they come out ...

you dont NEED new struts. especially if you're considering a sportline drop. its not much of a drop really.
im riding neuspeed sprots with stock shocks, and the ride isnt too bad, and i rarely bottom out my strut
if you're thinkin about goin with new shocks AND springs, you might as well just go spend the extra couple hundred and get a full coilover suspension.
as far as springs go...a spring is a spring...neuspeed and H&R are good bang for the buck. i mean....a tein spring is gonna cost more, but does it do anything a neuspeed spring doesnt do?

Springs have their own unique characteristics that effect ride quality, performance and comfort. If they didnt, we wouldnt need but only one product..
The OEM stock struts are under dampened, weak and designed for the stock springs which are the softest you can get. With after market springs, the spring rate is increased to keep you from bottoming out since your lower now. Once you have a stiffer spring installed, your car will bounce more since the stock struts are even more under dampened now. What happens over time, due to the higher occilations(the constant up and down movement) is the strut tends to wears out faster or starts to leak since it cant handle the occilations.
So yeah, you dont need new struts, but eventually you most likely will sooner then you think. This usually applies to drops more then an inch. Some people realize this and just buy new struts at the same time so they dont have to do the install twice.

hm... good info but i'm only asking this because my friends are just getting me springs for my b-day and i was wondering which springs were good and wouldn't blow my stock shocks too soon... and i think teins cost less than H&r's?? or maybe i'm wrong, and someone earlier said the H&R claim of 1.3" drop is incorrect and is .5" to .75"... um.. that's a huge difference so could someone please confirm whether that's a fact or not?? thank you

I cant confirm about the H&R's however my Eibach Sportlines are about what the claim in drop. I rode around for a year on Sportlines and stock struts without any problems... but YMMV.
