Turbo effect on Gas Mileage

$4,000 turbo kit can add 100 HP to a stock Civic ... Now obviously you're gonna need more energy (i.e. fuel, etc) to accomodate the greater power consumption during every day commuting ... can anybody with personal experience say how your turbo kit has affected your gas mileage? Thanks.

I don't have a turbo, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.....

Since turbos boost in proportion to the pressure of your right foot, My guess is that if you drive normally, your mileage should not change much at all. It's when you step on it that things start to happen. Don't they make turbos that can be stopped or bypassed?

And for $4000 I'd swap a better engine in first.

actually if you drive any point where boost comes into play, ie: whatever rpm it spools up at.. you'll be saying good bye to your mpg.

at least, that should be the case.

a civic I knew that was boost at about 6-7 psi, went from 28 mpg to 18 ish.

thats pretty bad. you should definitely check the FI forum for personal experience of 7thgen though.. do a search, I'm sure its been talked about already.
