Anyone here using XM?
Anyone here using XM?
Well Im tired of burning cds for the car and I drive a lot so I figured id take advantage of my xm equipped deck. They claim canadians cannot subscribe to the service but they had no problems chraging my canadian credit card, I told em I would provide my family in the states adress and they said its fine.
as far as reception he said I should be able to get reception except in the states they use 2 systems, a satellite feed and a repeater. he said I would likly still hit the satellite but they dont put any repeaters in toronto
can anyone comment on the signal they get in Toronto?
for those intrested
its $9.99 to activate online
$12.95 a month, obviosuly usd but a small price to pay for good radio imo
anybody know where I could buy an atenna thats possibly color matched to silver?

Out of curiosity, what kind of radio do you plan on activating it with Adam?
AFAIK, recieving XM signal strength is just fine in Toronto... you should have no problems as far as reception.

One of my buddy's told me a guy at his work (in Toronto) has been using XM for almost a year now with no problems. I've actually been looking into getting it myself, since the add-on units are pretty cheap from what I've seen when I've been to the U.S. lately (about $100).
From what I read in the paper a few weeks back, the stupid CRTC is still dragging its heels on allowing Satelite radio in the Canadian market and isn't expected to make a decision until at least June.

my pioneer DEH P80 works with an XM adapter
okay I did a bit of homework
XM is broadcasted 2 ways
1. satellite, when there is a clear view of the southern skies
2. Repeaters, for when you dont have a clear view of the skies XM offers repeaters.
recently XM's request to installl a repeater in toronto was denied, however the future of them installing one is possible.
So it wont work downtown is what I have comed to learn, really debating getting it.
if you go on xmradio.com you cna get a 4 day sample of their music provided you give em a legit email.
Commerical free and a few stations that really fit me (like the old school hip hop channel, all run dmc tupac biggie **** none of this new pop-rap garbage)
hmmm if I can get an attenna w/o shipping if rom the states ($50 american + $20 shipping and the fact that this dude uses UPS is really discourageing me)
so anyone know where I Can get the pioneer attenna in toronto?
man I hope they get approved for a repeater, its a real shame, i go downtown everyday, hopefully it works well in mid town, thats where I spend most time in traffic

You can pay in different ways, monthly quarterly and yearly and multiple year. Better price if you pay up front for long term.
I have a Terk antenna, It is inside the car on the back deck and works great. available at www.crutchfield.com
