New Civic Engines
New Civic Engines
So i've heard that the 06 civic's will have k-series across the board... ive read that the engines will be 115 130 160(k20a3) and 200(k20a2... my only question is ... are there gonna be any single cams or will they all be dohc... cause if thats the case the civic is going to be even easier to modify and K-series engines are going to be widely availible for cheap... and i guess the Rsx goes bye bye?

I doubt that will happen. If you put a K series in a EX and D17a2 into LX. DX, & VP. That is like a totally different car (in price, design, and eco)
Think about it, give the EX the K20A3 and you have a less luxiourious RSX that you can also get in 4 doors. Back in the day you could get the Integra GSR in 2 and 4 door models. When Honda came out with the RSX a good bit of people complained about it not having a 4 door option. So Honda came out with the TSX which was SUPPOSED to be a 4 door variant of the RSX (with a couple more ponies to pull the extra weight) however by the time they got done adding it all up, the TSX is quite a bit more expensive.
So right now there is a hole in Hondas lineup an inexpensive sporty sedan. A 160hp Civic EX would fill that hole. I mean look at it, Hondas lineup would look quite nice.
127hp Civic VP/DX/LX - average persons base model civic
160hp Civic EX - Inexpensive RSX variant with a 4 door option
200hp Civic Si - Cheaper variant of the RSX-S, without all the fancy options
160hp RSX - More luxurious version of the Civic EX
210hp RSX-S - More luxurious version of the Civic Si
and they would cover all their bases, although if someone wants an 200hp+ 4 door, they will need to look at the TSX

Also, the civic is supposed to be becoming more power because the Fit is coming to take its economy slot.

OMG!!!! of for real its gonna be a coupe? <sarcasm>
LOL where's that welcome to last year pic? LOL j/k.
I don't know what engines will be in the new civics but I do know that there will be no more Integra in Japan so that means no more RSX. So that means that the Si will have very big shoes to fill. But with 200 HP 6 speed and a LSD, I think it will fill those shoes quite nicely.

all this has been talked about before in the 8th gen thread. I doubt they will even have a civic dx,hx, vp for the 8th gen. The civic is moving up to a premium compact market so they'll probably only have a lx, ex, si models. Just download the John Mendel interview at Temple of Vtec. The dx hx, vp area will be replaced with the coming honda jazz/fit. The 8th gen civic is going to be nothing like a 7th gen except with there use of struts in the front. The 8th gen is going to be more of a revolutionary step rather then our evolutionary one are 7th gens were to the 6th.
Honda never stated that they going to discontinue the rsx but they never denied it when people asked if it was going to be discontinued. Most people speculate that they'll just finish the current product cycle and just not replace it with another rsx.
Other rsx rumors is that, their going to get rid of the rsx, and have it come back later as a real 2dr brother to the tsx and have it compete against the 330ci bimmers.

Honda is going to be indroducing direct injection to its new engines. There have been rumors both that it will be done with changes in the K-seriers and that there will be a new R-series. I tend to believe the former since the K-series is way too new to be replacing already. Also, the L-series from the Fit and some other Hondas we don't get may be fit in the new lower-tier Civics, probably in a larger displacement version (currently a 1.5) I would be surpirsed if the D-series was used at all as it is basically a 20 year old engine, and the L can do what it did well and the K can do what it never could. And yes, the RSX is dead at latest by MY '07.

maybe they will just do like they did on the last 3 years and just increase the bore size on the d-series maybe a d18 non vtec in dx/lx and d18vtec in the ex. that would be nice then maybe some stuff would be made for the d17.

Hopefully the next gen Civic is so good that the resale value of our Civic's increases.
The Civic needs a little help becuase the competition has DOHC and has a lot more base power then the current model does @ EX trim. Also, with the weight the Civic has gained over the years, it no longer feels lively. I hope the next Civic will be omnia omnibus, without being too expensive. (My Latin may be a little rusty, but I do hope that is all things to all (people).)

Only way I would believe your friend is if he worked for Honda of America. My dealerships over here didnt even know about the 8thgencivic until they got the information from Honda a few days before the debut of the new Si.

most dealerships are just like videogame stores. They make **** up, go with rumors nd generally have no idea what they are talking about. I remember asking in 2003 if the Civic Type-R would be headed our way and the guy said it would be released as an Acura
