Anyone ever lease a honda - need some advice
I need a second vehicle for me and the wife. My 95 S10 is on its last legs. I want a 02 or newer CR-V, but don't want to spend $18K+. Any salespeople or others know how low Honda will go on lease terms? I'm looking for a two year closed ended lease - I will put down the value of my truck ($2K) and maybe a little more. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I began by leasing my 02 vic i have right now and had low payments etc. I loved it but I also made a ton of money as a contractor in iraq and decided when I came home to just pay it off. If you can get financed through honda your good to go because there interest rate is about 2 % right now

I leased my 02 EX Coupe for 36 months at $200 a month with $700 down. Just got done with the lease last month. A 24 month lease will cost you quite a bit more than other leases however. I'd definitely recommend haggling the price of the CR-V as low as possible as this is less money you'll have to pay over the course of the lease.

one thing with a lease, from the salesmans point of view he sold the whole car and gets full comission, so use him to get you free stuff
I used that to get me free mantenace for a year, $150 bucks on a gas card, honda hat, pen, mug.....lol.....I'm a geek for wanting those things I know

i wouldn't lease a pre-owned vehicle, it wouldn't be worth it. as for new, you can get an lx 4wd for around $20,000.
hurts2bstock - i don't understand where you are going with what you said about your salesperson???

Honda has great cars at great lease rates at great prices
I was simply saying than grinding a salesman for a cheeper car (less commission for him/her) is like making your self less valuable to them.....so I go after freebies and stuff like the service and accessories, stuff that won't eat into commision tends to be a more palatible deal to a salesperson.
Not much of a point just telling ya what I did

Hahaha...
And no one will get hurt if you ask for a free Honda hat... and pen... and shirt... and whatever else they can tack on as long as you're right about to buy it.

Sorry, I wasn't clear - I would lease a new CR-V or buy a used one. My wife and I are trying to buy a house so we want our debt as low as possible - the lease would be much less than buying a $18K vehicle. The more I think about it the more I think it is a bad idea - I hate renting things, although renting a depreciable asset like a car is better than renting a appreciable asset like a home.
I'm hoping to spend $15 or less - that isn't going to work for a new body (and engine) style CRV - I guess I'll wait for a nice older one to come along.

I had the option of leasing my car with 1000 down for 3 years at 290 a month...or I could buy it with 1500 down and pay it off in 4 years at 350 a month. So I figured, for another 500 down, 60 bucks more a month, and another year of paying, I can actually OWN this car. Im 3 years into it next month. One more year and Im free and clear of an almost brand new car (11K on the odometer)and I actually get to keep it. Its mine. Not as a lease. If I would have leased it, I dont own it...its not mine. Yeah they give you the option of buying it at the end of the lease, but those things are retarded. AND you have to stay in a certain milage, full coverage, bunch o crap.

I say you just buy a used economy car outright and keep it for awhile until you know how your finances are after the house. Once you know how much disposable income you have after making payments for the house, just buy a new car.
Leasing isn't really good for people unless you barely drive. If you communte long distances or drive often i honestly wouldn't recommend leasing. If you have good credit, the interest rates for leasing and buying a car will be similar. Except with leasing you have a certain milegage limit you can drive and if you go over that you have to pay penalties.

just go to the dealer negotitate a price and than work out the residual and find out the money factor. for me leasing worked out to be a hell of alot better than buying even at honda's best apr, which i couldn't have gotten

It can be if you want it to be......I use mine for business, and that alows me to write off the lease (as it is a loss) and also some of the gas .....I pay about 32% income tax and by the time by lease is up the government will have payed over 4 grand of my car.......so its dependant to how you use your lease
