Fricken honda dealership

Hey guys..

Well I took my car into honda a couple weeks back because the ride was harsh on my car. They said nothing was wrong...but I disagreed. they sent me on a ride with a mechanic and he kept telling me "oh, this is just how hondas drive." once again i disagreed. I took it back one more time and they said they would tighten a "suspension bolt" but that was all they could do.

On saturday I was installing my neuspeed sports springs, and whatdaya know...my front driver shock looks all torn to hell. Im not sure if this is what was compromising the ride, but it sure looked bad. The part that was torn was the thick rubber boot that covers the shock, would this be a problem? or is it just some sort of cover?? because its real think, hard rubber i assume its important, not just a cover - but im not sure...what do you guys think?

That's just a dust cover for the shock... unless you got about a pound of sand into the shock itself, the torn rubber shouldn't affect the way your suspension performs. Sounds like there's another problem...

etdigitalis should not be trusted
dust cover on a front damper? that is no dust cover, that's your bump stop. it's there to prevent failure of your strut should it compress all the way. if it's all torn to hell, it could mean that your strut frequently bottoms out (not good) and most likely means that your strut is shot.

i'm no expert, but if your ride is under warranty, i'd put the OEM springs back on and march right back to the dealer and tell them what you saw. i'd leave out the part about the neuspeeds tho... if they didn't want to fix it to begin with, they'll surely void your warranty if they new you had it apart.
