how did you get the crower parts before they came out and where did you get your internals and a cosmetic gasket? I've been looking for a while for my build

the Crower springs and retainers can come off a D16z6, the sleeves came from Race Engineering, the reground cam is Crower, the head/block from a salvage yard, the rods are modified GSR Eagle rods, the pistons are custom ordered ++oversized by Diamond, the valves are SI (the company, not Civic Si) or Manley, Honda OEM bearings... All I need to order are the main bearings and the head gasket (going to be a custom order from Cometic) .... We're going to press in the sleeves while we're waiting for the pistons to get in ... 1.8L 9.1:1CR

The spring and retainers from Crower are the same from older model d series engines...

is that a question or a statement.

we need to get a thread going that has proof by numbers of all the interchangable parts from the d16-d17

you mill .039 from the big end width on each side of the rod ... you also tell the piston maker that you need the 77mm piston to accept a 21mm wrist pin instead of 19mm like the stock D17a2 rod ...

And we're only milling .078 off the new rod so we dont have to worry about weakening at all ...

There must be a way to raise the rev limiter on our ECU's or at least disable it.. Let's drop Hondata an email asking if they could either disable it or raise it and see what we come up with?

The only other part I know works from a D16 is the clutch and pressure plate.

Hondata doesn't want anything to do with us and none has found a way to chip the obd2 ecu's without going thru the obd1 conversion and we can't do that.AEM came out with a ignition system for coil on plug ignitions like ours that allows us to raise the rev limit but I haven't seen it out for sale yet or know if it works for us for sure. Alot of the evo guys use it. But without raising the rev, there is no reason that we would really need valvetrain.

I believe my valvetrain is the future (sung to we are the world) .... We wont always have a rev-limiter and when we don't, I don't want to redo my top-end so now is the time ... If there was a forged crank out, I'd get one of those also ...

I personally think that Hondata can remove the rev limiter in our ECU's because the K Pro and our ECU have a lot in common....

According to hondaautomotiveparts.com the D17a2 (2001-05 EX) and the D16y8 (1996/8-00) use the same valves, retainers, and exhaust springs but the intake springs are different .... dunno why its different, just know that it says it is ... Crower makes a valvespring set for the D16z6 and D16y8 ( it states D-series VTEC ) so thats what I'm going with ...

My point is also rotational mass--make everything that turns in a circle as light as possible without sacrificing integrity. A billet crank that is knife edged and balanced would be a good addition and be relatively light in weight don't you think?
