Oversized Pistons - What does it take?

so I got my sleeves in today and dropped them off at the machine shop with my block ... While discussing having custom pistons ordered, I started to wonder what I would have to do to run 77mm pistons? The shop is going to measure the head CC's tomorrow (does anyone know it off hand?), and we're going to talk about it further ... So, what should I think about if trying to run a 77mm piston on a boosted D17A2??

well, I was thinking fuel and timing mostly ... I mean, being that I am increasing displacement, will I have to make any adjustments to any settings.... It seems the sleeves could go up to 77.5mm and the custom pistons are the same price regardless of what bore I choose ... Also, we were looking at trying to use a shelf K20 rod, but after taking measurements we realized that the 1st ring would be way too close to the piston top for a boosted application (ohhh and C2i0v0i1C, you were kind of right again.... The distance to the pin was ok but to the piston top was not)... Here is the next thing were looking at ...

B93740B-4 D17A Civic 5.394 1.890 0.780 0.748(19mm) 0.900
B93729B-4 B18C VTEC 5.433 1.890 0.858 0.827(21mm) 0.900

The GSR rod would be short enough to use but the BE width of the rod is .078" too large and the PE bore is larger so I would have to use GSR pins... It may be possible to mill down each side of each rod 0.039" but we have to check the measurements...

or u could just call crower and give them the part number off my rod tag, shave down the bottom end of the sleeve for clearance, and have a nice day, i think ur going to way to much trouble researching

ok, well here's why I was trying this.. Luckily all this reading worked out... Forged pistons and rods for $815.24

The Rods $374.63
Using GSR Rods in a D-17
The crank ends of the GSR rods and D series are same size around at 1.890" (48mm). The crank end bore width needs to be milled to match the D17 crank rod journals. Shave .039" off each side of the crank end of the rod. GSR rods are 5.433" or 0.039" longer than D17 rods sooo ....

The Pistons - $440.61 Custom Diamond Pistons 9.5:1 with 21mm pins and a compression height of 1.022"
