I was wondering, since i've there have been a lot of people custim fittng them either from 6th gen civic and one fomr a d16y8, what does the custom work involve???
Is it that the in doesn't mount directly, meaning that you have to modify the hole that ataches it to the head, or is it just extending the wire for the TB??
thanks..

the stock manifold is a plastic plenum and runners which attaches to an aluminum injector plate which bolts to the head. Basically you can take any aluminum manifold, cut the flange off behind the injectors, and weld it to our injector plate.
When i pull my motor to put the built one in, i will be making a manifold to fit my car. Im thinking of a GSR or Type R manifold because #1 they flow quite well stock (and even better after i port them) and #2 they look badass.
Hell, if you wanted to, you could probably put a damn Saturn manifold or jetta manifold on your car if you wanted. As long as its aluminum and the ports come close to lining up, i say go for it.

you don't want to go welding ****....bad idea. I'm going to try it this summer and I've already been comparing them and really putting a lot of thought into it. I have an engine harness for the y8 also, so I'm just going to splice the clips and use the y8 sensors...much easier than creating a remote IACV and making the map hole bigger and screwing around with the TPS. There are also a lot of vac line fittings on the y8 which is nice for hooking up turbo vac lines. Looks much better than T fittings. When I do it, I'm going to do a step by step DIY with pictures and everything. I have 3 y8 IM's so I can **** up two and still be ok :P . If you aren't ready to go to a return line yet, you can still do the swap. you just plug/clamp the return line from the fuel rail and it works just like the stock fuel rail. But you will need at least a SAFC to adjust the fuel cause I know the d16 and d17 injectors are diff. and will need to be adjusted. here is a link to a thread where a guy did it. This guy did an awesome job too. I'll bet that y8 helped the turbo a lot compared to the plastic piece of crap we have now. He just didn't give a lot of info about doing it is all. so I'm going to pick up where he left off

that venom is sweet, but I don't think he wants to spend that much money on just an intake....I wouldn't unless I was rich and could go all out with my engine and get it putting down like 400whp. but that's just me.....
I need TP for my bunghole

check out the new venom I.M.
The "Eco-Tec Intake Manifold"

Made of T6061 Aluminum
Bolt on Fit no modifications required
Lightweight design
Comes in Red, Blue, Polished, and machine finish
http://www.venom-performance.com/nf/.../imanimage.htm
Intake manifolds are CNC machined billet aluminum head flange and intake runner surface CNC machined runners to reduce turbulence thus increasing the speed and volumetric efficiency of intake manifold. The manifold excepts up to 66 mm throttle body. Can be used on naturally aspirated or under forced induction. The Polished manifolds make a great addition to any show car.
