Got a ticket, 43 in a 30

Hey, the other night I got a ticket for going 43 in a 30. Cop knocked it down to 40 in a 30, but on the ticket, he wrote my car was a 4 door, when in fact it is a coupe. One of my friends said that because of that, I could probably get the ticket dropped. I just wanna know if that is or not. Thanks.

P.S. I have a BEL Vector 985, and it didn't go off, and the cop told me he clocked me using KA-band.

#1. Coupe...Sedan...doesnt matter. He can correct that in court

#2. Radar companies know people own detectors and they're making radars that cant be detected...ie. the laser

Be happy if he bumped it down to a lower fine. Next time he stops you he probably won't.

That's why I buy mine from Rocky Mountian Radar, they make the radar guns the cops use and develope the abilty to detect things like laser before the cops even get it.

But yeah, the cop can just reissue the ticket, I ask a laywer about that once.

u got caught man. even if yur detector was laser capable that only tells you that u've been clocked. a laser is a lot different then radar because it doesnt have a wide area that it covers like a radar...thats why the radar detector picks it up. a laser is directed to a single point and is instant.
also....yur not gonna have yur ticket reduced because of the number of doors the cop wrote down. that has nothign to do with the fact that you were speeding.

Both Radar and laser are intant as far as human reaction time is concerned. Laser is just a bit faster, but it isn't going to do anything. Laser is generally about 18" diameter circle when it hits your car, maybe bigger if you are farther or smaller if you are to close.

They (Rocky Mountian Radar) have a jammer that is legal in 44 states I think, it simply reflects the light back to the cops gun at different intervals. Any device used to measure you has to take your speed 3 times before it can display it to the cop, if it reads 45, 48, 36, they aren't the same it won't even display a number to the cop Rember it takes about 1/100 of a second to read your speed once.

on the flip side, hopefully your jammer is pointing the right direction. dps here uses laser, and they like to park just past the decline.

go the flow man.

I do, just go the flow, but I still like to have an advantage over the flow. I use it far more as just a simple detector than anything else. But sometimes, as in this case you don't have a flow, i.e. you are only car around, and in this situation it has saved me couple of times.

It's got 360 degree protection too.

most officers are trained to use the laser/radar guns can also measure speed by just their eye and most cops are rated to about 120mph (at least in NY) if you use a signal jammer and the cop get 3 different answers..he can/will pull you over for unsafe driving and issue you a ticket for the speed he assumed you were doing... happy driving otherwise

I normally go about 5-10 over or sometimes 15. The day I meet a cop that can tell by his eye the difference between 65 and 75 and be accurate enough to give me a ticket for that speed is the day I quite driving. Just because I have a jammer doesn't mean I go 120 mph. Here in ohio, simply putting down that the cop "thought" I was speed doesn't cut it, infact I have never heard of that ever working in any state. If you are going way over th espeed limit, say like 50 over, they can give you a ticket for reckless operation and say you where going about 50 over, but at that point the speed at which you are going is kind of irrelevant, because anything over 25 over the speed limit is concider reckless operation, hence the need for an approximate speed and it doesn't have to be accurate. I know plent of cops that use these device and they are no better than me at estimating speeds.

But I highly doubt a speeding ticket that says I was going 55 in a 45 and the cops method of measurement was his eye will hold up in any court in the US, I know it won't in Ohio.

Mine is $350, does the same thing, but it is legal and hangs in your window just like a normal radar dector, which it is a radar/laser dector also.

Most states provide the highway patrol and device that specifically scan for active jammers like that, and if they catch you

Hmm they didnt look like jammers but meh who knows. What I do know is I live in FL, and the police care hardley ANYTHING about hooked up cars. I mean to them all cars are the same so it's pretty sweet, no loud exhaust tickets and stuff So I don't think they would care if I was speeding adn had a jammer. The big thing around here is they look for racing.. lol I flew by an undercover cop, going 20 over at least 3 times in the same week and he didnt pull me over... they're just looking for stupid kids racing =)

Yeah, Florida is pretty cool like that. So is Ohio, the states to worry about are Virgina one of the Carolina's and a couple others I will never drive my car through. But yeah, if it works and the police don't care, sounds nice.

Get a passport 8500 and a ZR3 shifter that plugs right into the 8500...they detect everything(X band, K band, Ka band, and yes the LASER), even red light cameras(know by personal experience)...and nothing is fool proof so always be aware of your surroundings...

Unless both of you are from the same state, I would not make that assumption. Here in Ohio, a ticket for 13 MPH over will get you a fine between $110-140 depending on who pulls you over. AND it will get you 2 points on your licence (in Ohio 12 points and you can't drive).
