Dome light/Power lock problem

Need a little help. '02 Civic LX. If you just open the door of the car (any door) the dome light will not come on nor will the power door lock work. If you put the key in the door lock or the ignition, both will work. After you stop, get out and close the door you can open the door after a short time (~1 minute or less) and the light will come on and the locks will work. Otherwise, neither work. Question: Does anyone have a wiring diagram that would show how these are connected to the power source? This was a 'water' car and the people who cleaned it up may have left a wire unattached or the water damaged something. If your advice is to 'take it to a dealer', please save the typing; I've already taken it and they say it may take a day to locate the problem. Don't want to spend that much until I've exhausted all other options. Thanks.

Check your grounds......its usally the problem with electronics that are acting strange. After you have checked those and the problem is still going for some reason just take it to the honda dealership, have them look at it then after they tell you whats wrong say you dont want it fixed and go home and fix it your self.

That happened to me.....check the fuse in the front fuse box....in your honda manual and I think the lid of the fuse box will tell you which one is it!!! I'm sure that will fix your problem !!!! what you did before that happened??....
