Projectors

Projectors suck! it is not bright at all. Compared to my friends stock headlights, the projectors are probably half as bright. Anyone feel the same here? ANyone know how to change this? If I aim the projector beam higher will it show better?

i agree with you 100%. unfortunately, i don't think any adjustments will help that much. i went back to stock recently because:
1. they weren't bright enough and
2. they kept fogging up

My projectors work great. I've never had a problem w/ them fogging and I aimed them using a diy I found. They throw out alot more light and at a much more broader spectrum. (sorry for the weird wording I wanted to feel smart....) But anyway I love my projectors.

my friend has the sonar projectors and they sucked at lighting. he recently brought audi s4 projectors and got them retrofitted into his housing. it looks very nice and shines nicely too (cuz they're HIDs now).

The sonar/halo projectors suck, even more with hid in em. Tyc is the only one with decent light output if aimed correctly.

It must be the aiming or just some are better than others. I agree with you, people ask what I did to make mine so bright.

he didnt get just the bulb, he got all new projectors from an Audi S4 and got them retrofitted into the sonar housings WITH HIDs. so the lighting output is totally different from how they were when he brought them. it probably lights up better than stock too...

I know I was talking about slapping hid in the stock sonar projectors. There will be almost no light output. Ofcourse a retrofit with new lens is gonna look good. That doesn't even depend on the original part anymore.

I got the sonar black housing projectors. They never fog up but are dim like a ****. Are you sure the hids will make my sonars worse because I was going to get the hid kit for my projectors real soon?

Let me know....
thanks

Check the hid pic post. A member here tried them and said they were dimmer than halogen. He's now running hid in stock housing and is very happy. I also just recently posted a pic of blue hid in sonar projectors that a ricer in my parking lot has. You almost can't see any light on the ground. But check the pic post in lighting forum.

Hids seem to work best in tyc projectors, That is what I had for a while, but for some stupid reason, I sold it and put the factory healights and bulbs back in. Also, the light output was 50x better than that guys with the sonar projectors. If your putting hid into aftermarket projectors, tyc i think is the best choice.

Hid in sonar projectors will be dimmer than halogen in sonar projectors. If you really want hid, stick with stock housing or just do a retrofit (or pay Impulse to do it ) I remember the sonar/halo projector even having a note on the side that says NO HID lol.

so you mean hids in sonar projectors will be dimmer than using regular h1 bulbs right?
I hate how stock headlights look for 01-03 if I could fit 04 headlights I would but I cant.
And yes the sonar states no hid bulbs but who cares.

Well it says that for a reason. Check the hid pic post and see if you're happy with how they look. You won't be able to see anything if you put hid in there. Why not get some tyc at least? They actually have decent quality projector lenses.

the reason why putting HIDs in the stock sonar housing is because the projector that comes with the sonars is tinted. if you look at the projector, its bluish. the TYC projectors are clear, so, if you decide to put HIDs in those, the light isnt filtered out by the tinted lens, get it???

the reason the hid is bad in aftermarket projectors is because the hid lense is not designed to handle that amount of light. Oem projectors are designed with a better lense capable of displaying that amount of light, Its a completely different way the lenses are made

Yeah my projectors sucked too. I had theones with angel eyes I bought for like 300 they fogged up all the time and the low beam bulb blew in like the first month and the angel eye on the other side must have lost all the gas because that didnt work ethier
