KYB Vs. Tokico
I'm looking at the tokico D-spec and KYB AGX. Anybody who has experiance with either, how do you like them or how do your friends like them? how is the adjustment? How is the fit? If you have a girlfriend or boyfriend that has ridden in you your car how did they like them befor and after. anything at all will be helpful. thanks

I plan on ordering 4 corners of KYB AGX to use with the H&R Sport springs that have been sitting in my basement for 2 years or so. This will happen as soon as Uncle Sam cuts me a check. I'll be sure to get some pics when I get them.

AGX's have been out for a couple of months now. People aren't raving about them as much as they did Tokico. I honestly don't know why though. I've had the AGX/H&R's on for about two weeks now after swapping them in for the B+Gs that I had on before. I have an 03 by the way and yes, I did have to mod it to fit. You can take it to a local shop to get it done. It'll take only a few minutes to enlarge the bolt holes to fit. My mechanic used this drill bit that had many different sizes on it as the hole gets bigger. He said it went all the way to 11/16. As far as how the ride goes, its very nice for us daily drivers. Don't forget that these have adjustable dampening. I picked up my fiance from work after getting them installed and she was happy about how the car felt compared to the B+G. That's also cuz I was slammed when I had those on. Anyway, AGX/H&R's are probably the best setup that I've had on this car so far. I also had them on my old accord too. You won't go wrong with them.

Ride qualitly wise, your better off with teh Tokicos, Handling... KYB.
BUt if I had my choice I'd go Koni, they well perform better then both. (handling)

ITs the Valving range... not all shocks adjust the same ammount or the same range, Be it Low Mid or High speed valving. And Tokicos Tend to be on the softer side of valving Any way. And You are only adjusting The Low to Mid speed Rebound setting on the KYB's, which has more to do with handling then it does with ride quality.... Plus KYB's are known to have Relitivly High Bump settings.... making for a little rougher ride. (bump deals more with Ride quality) The plus side as far as a street damper is that the D-Spec adjust both Bump and rebound... So in theory, Since Tokicos are known to be on the Soft side of performance dampers, you could possibly assume that the D-Spec would be substantually softer then the KYB's as far as Ride quality is concerned. Especially since you control both the bump and rebound..
But i could be wrong as I havent found any Shock Dynos for the Tokico D-Spec, but if they follow the general design of the Illuminas then the above should be true.

yeah thats one of the reasons I have started leaning D-spec. I got a ride in an old peugot 505 turbo race car and it had really soft bump and realativly stiff rebound, the thing drove so nice and we could go so fast cause bumpy *** canyon roads just didnt upset the car like they do on mine. So I have been thinking that the softer bump of the d-spec might be a huge asset

Tokicos seem pretty soft at times. Smooth roads are just completely awesme, like your floating on a cloud. A lot of really bad pothole ghetto town roads, can suck. They are still soft though, You feel a bump, but it isnt as bad as stock, more control, and Youcan tell from the feeling it is sort of like a BMW. When they hit a bump, the car doesnt move, but the wheel flies up into the fender. They are a very nice ride, my dads GF really loved the ride of tokicos. She thought they were like a cadi? Very similar to how my dads CTS felt on bumps though. HE had 20s on there though

Cheapest price I've seen was $550 on ebay,
I've got the HP's + Neuspeed Sports and I can tell the HP's are a bit soft for the springs. If i had the choice to do over again i'd go with the AGX's. This is not to say that the HP's are bad shocks, but i think they're not particularly suited to some of the stiffer spings. They were perfect with stock springs and i'm sure they'll do okay with H&R's and the like.
