And would it be worth the 50 bucks? And nother question, iv seen alot of people B*tchin about hydrolock, is it realyl that big of a problem with a CAI if u dont have a bypass valve? and plus u can alwasy put ur filter on the first section of pipe and make a "SRI". thanks, nick

I have an ebay cai the brand is "CP"
and modded it for aem bypass valve and it work fine.
I payed like 40 buck for three years ago.
I couldn't bring my self to buy a expensive brand
I don't have a show car
and the gains aren't that great to justify buying a high price brand.

simple bro!.... save your money, and buy yourself a turbo kit... I know it's expensive, but buying a CAI or SRI is a waste of time and money, trust me, been there, done that...
anyway... I have an AEM CAI w/ bypass valve you wanna buy it? 100bucks shipped

expensive
The reason why name brand intakes are so expensive is because they actually test and research their products. What we are paying for is called overhead. I learned all about this in my estimating class today. Anyway. In my experiance, as well as a bunch of friend's, you get what you pay for. If you pay for a knock off you will get a knock off. I personally run the V2 and love it.

It's a piece of metal pipe with like 2 holes in it. How much research do you think went into that. Even still... All the research that went into that got stolen by all the el-cheapo aftermarket companies who bought an AEM and bent a piece of metal pipe in the same places to sell on ebay for $20.
Practically speaking... if the intake were designed for performance it would maximize air velocity. But in reality they have to make the intake to fit in the tight engine bay, meaning less velocity. There is really only one path for the CAI. If a no name brand is a couple of degrees off... big deal you still 99.9% of the gains you had in the AEM. and .1% of 4hp isn't worth $180
Anyhoo... I have a el-cheapo intake It was a pain in the ****, the engine mount broke, and I had to rig it up
But I paid $30 shipped... the people who paid $40-50 had a lot less trouble.
ok i know its suppost to be easy to instal a CAI.. but, i wanna get one off ebay and i dont want to instal it... where should i got and how much should i expect to pay for instalation? and how much does it lower your mpg?

install it yourself. I figured it out with no directions, not a member of this or any other internet site. It is common sense, a waste to pay an install. Plus you get to learn something, and check out your engine bay mroe in depth. Thats always good. Look for installation instructions, it is very hard to mess up an install on an intake, IMHO.
I took my intake off that was not a knock off, because it sucked. I thought it gave me HP, but nope, it slowed my *** down. When I put my stock airbox back on, I gained a nice low end, but it does give a nice sound for sure. Better than exhaust, IMO

I COMPLETELY AGREE !!!!!
If you do not know how to operate a screwdriver and a ratchet
YOU SHOULD NOT INSTALL THIS
You may harm yourself or your neighbors dog in a freak accident!
btw, it should increase your mpg , but not noticable

i had a CAI in my corolla. i had better high rpm gains but it was weird on idel position. the would shut off or fall below 1000rpm thus trembling the car b4 coming back to normal .
had a SR in my civic . no gains i could feel but no problems like tht on my rolla.
all in all , it sounds gr8 , my mileage has gone higher (which i hate) .

KKK Change your name.
BTW your Toyota idles high, my 04 vic idles at 750 with or without my generic cai. My generic cai is cool it was about $40.00 delivered it is polished aluminum, and all the hoses are black. I took it off last weekend, along with my Neuspeed front strut bar, and painted them both with that candy apple red translucent paint from pep boys, they both look really cool.

So I've been running with an "el-cheapo" CAI for the past 2 years and finally broke down and dropped the $250 for a brand new AEM V2. The first time I tried to install the el-cheapo, the mount to the engine broke, just like everyone elses. Have you ever tried to have much pride in your car when someone looks under the hood and you have your CAI ziptied to the stock intake brackets? It's tough lemme tell ya. And the bottom line is I did notice a difference from my CAI to the V2. Granted, it's not a huge groundbreaking improvement, but there definately is improvement, AND living in Vegas where it floods like a bitch, now I don't have to worry about getting water in my intake. Be patient and look for a V2 for cheaper. I'm kicking myself because I've seen a couple on here, one with a brand new tube for $150 shipped. I wish I would have seen this last week. And as far as what everyone says about the cheapo companies copying the big names....well lets put it this way...do you wear Wal-Mart clothes????
