What shocks should i get?
I have Eibach Sportline springs and was wondering on what shocks i should get? Income tax will be arriving soon and I am starting to look at which pair i should get... I need all 4 of course... Um, i dont rally any at all... Just a daily driver... I know the Koni's need to be modified some but i really dont wanna do that... I think the Eibach Sportlines finally settle at about 1.6 inches all around...
Thanks,

Yeah, they are inserts I believe. You use the upper part of the stock shock on the fronts. The rears are direct replacement. I have tokico HPs (blues) with about a 2" drop. Fronts have a 1/2 finger gap, the rears none, and my ride is stiff, much nicer than stock. Bumpy roads can suck since they are pretty damn stiff, but smooth roads are sooooo nice, especially freeways, rich parts of town.

Yes, they are an insert and I don't think they are planning to change this any time soon. What you will do is cut your shock, empty the guts and use the bottom portion to mount the shock insert into. Its not too bad. Also, consider the Omni-Power full coilover setup which is coming out soon. PM me if you have any further questions (it is hard for us to keep up with every post).

Injen it is not a PROBLEM that they are inserts. It is just easier to manufacture them that way.
Have you read this? http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=171892
Do you want adjustable, non-adjustable? I think Tokico's would be fine.

Tokico blue is too stiff, and konis are a pain to install. I want some shocks too
Maybe d-spec but haven't heard much. With roads around here, my stocks are gonna blow real soon.

Konis arent that hard to do. You just drill a hole on the bottom and cut the top off. It took me only about 15 minutes extra each side using a hack saw. Well worth it IMHO. I have Sportlines also, and theyre an awesome combo. At the softest setting, Konis are just a tiny bit firmer then stock. From there you can tune your suspension firmness to your liking.

i have no complaints about my agx. they lifted the car a bit cause i got the squishy stock springs, so if you got sport springs you may see up to a 1/4 inch lift just because they are gas charged.

tokico blues hands down. best and affordable OEM replacements. cheaper than koni yellows and other KYB's. not performance shocks but your just daily driving. on top of that, tokico recommends a 1.5-1.7" drop for better results. since your an 2001? you wouldnt have to modify anything, just replacements

So if I want a smooth ride I should get....? If the adjustables are gonna be stiff too, what else is there. So the agx is a better ride over kyb and tokico?
the tokicos are good. I paid 275 flat or less I forgot. They were really cheap though. They are good shocks if your into stiffness. Stiffness is good, but I'd rather have adjustables so I can make it softer sometimes. Handling is awesome. Go with adjustables if you have the money. The D-spec one is nice but its on my friends subaru store car so the shocks would definately be 300% better because its one bad *****.

Ya rob i read that post, but i was still kinda lost... As far as the adjustable or non... I am not sure... I just want a smooth ride basically that can handle those spring rate drops... I think me and gearbox are looking for basically the same thing... lol

If you don't plan on racing, then you don't need to spend the extra money on adjustables. However, you have to realize that non-adjustables aren't made to go too low (less than 1.75").
are their any non-adjustable shocks/struts that can be used to be dropped 2"+ ? i know theirs many ppl with slammed/dumped rides that just want a clean drop with quality ride at same time

^^ both have been around for a long time and are tried and true. I don't think you could ever go wrong with those.
Lots of good suggestions in this thread though.

okay, well like i said... my springs settled at about 1.6 all around
So, where does that leave me at? Also, is it hard to adjust the adjustable ones? is it similar to a coilover system? I mean if i get the adjustable, i dont wanna have to get an alignment everytime i adjust them... or i could just adjust them to one certain setting and be done with it.
Thanks for all your help...

I love my tokicos. And as for the comment on them being non performance, OEM replacements. That is not true. If so, why are they called Tokico HPs? (HP=High Performance). They are stiff, but not too bad. If you live where the roads are total crap, and not kept up, I would consider something softer. Where I live, the roads are totally smooth, even through all the intersections. About 10 minutes away, the roads turn into potholes, bumpe, pothols, crap, crap, and crap. I dont really like driving onthose roads, since my car feels like it will crack in half or something. These things are stiff, but so awesome if you drive a lot of nice roads. It just means I have to bring dates to nicer places on the nice side of town. Big pimpin.

One more benefit to the KYB-AGX. They are guaranteed for life. If they blow, which is going to take some doing, they will be replaced at no charge. I cashed in on that once when I had the KYB gas-adjust on my truck. It was so nice to get them replaced, then a couple years later i sold the truck--and it had new shocks. <<good selling point.
