i decided to post my own problem and not hijack his thread.
i have the megan racing downpipe/"cat" and for about a year it has been fine. i havent had any problems except that my check engine light is on. once last year it shut off on its own for about 3 days then came back on. this year...it did the same thing, it shut off for almost a week then came back on. when it was off i noticed a huge difference in the way my car drove. then yesturday, my light came back on and my car just seems to not go anywhere, it just drives like **** now. would an O2 simulator fix this problem? my friend has one off of his protege5, will it work on my car, or are there vehicle specific o2 simulators?

ok, check all yur 02 connections. not only the connection to the cat, but also the downpipe. Also, follow the wires upto the different connections. honestly i've never heard of this before but its worth a shot. now when u say you say yur car drives like $hit what do u mean. be specific. i'm sure other guys will have their input too.

Rep Power: 0 ok well the light was on for so long i never really noticed it until it shut off. my car got better gas milage, had better acceleration, and was just all around running better/smoother. once the light turned back on, it was immediatly noticed in the lack of acceleration. then over the next few days i noticed a huge drop in mpg, by almost 5. i am going to change my oil tomorrow and im almost out of gas so im going to throw in a bottle of lucas fuel additive to see if something was maybe just gummed up. i dunno though. will any 02 simulator work or does it have to be car specific?
