Mobil 1 EP 15K mile/1 Year Oil?

As Posted here: http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/...c;f=1;t=009296

Highlight: "Mobil announced today several new extended drain interval oils with performance guarantees..
Mobil Clean 5000 (5,000 mile ODI or 6 months), Mobil Clean 7500 (7,500 miles ODI or 6 months)and Mobil 1 Extended performance (15,000 mile ODI or 1 year, guaranteed)..
However, for automobiles still under manufacturer's warranty, OEM recommended drain intervals prevail....... Availability in coming weeks..."

"the regular Mobil 1 0W-20 has been revised to coincide with Ford/Honda owner's manual of 5W-20.."

While the news is enticing, the good folks at BITOG are waiting to sample it. Only after the virgin oil analysis is in would I consider using it for an extended drain. Oil manufacturers are entitled to puffery in selling their products just like any other vendor.

It might be excellent stuff, it might be better than OK or it might be their regular M1 with a different add package and regaradless of the makeup, your own individual driving needs/habits are a great influence in determing when to change oil, regardless of what's on the bottle.

I'm not trying to discourage anything; just advocating a little interim restraint. Eagerness, however, is encouraged.
