you come first. Bottom line
Then tell them:
"I made an appointment and as a responable adult, I need to be on time for the commitment I made days before. When I return I will address your all your issues."
then if they get lippy telL them this
"Your trying to raise me to be a resonsable adult, and be responable for actions. It is not like I going to hang out with my friends. I need to get my school books, and go to the DMV. I'm just doing what I was raised to: THATS BEING RESPONSABLE!

don't fight it, it'll make things worse because they already have this preset notion that you will obey no matter how inconvinient it is on your part... sucks but it's true... the generation gap between our generation and their generation is widening the more you live here in the U.S. and as time moves on... same with them... they're probably still stuck on the values and beliefs of their generation in KOREA....
BOTTOM LINE is.... korean parents are stuborn and most 1st generation or half generation korean-american parents will be stuck on the same attitude, values, and belief's of their era no matter how long they live here...

all children of immigrants say that their parents are stubborn and strict and this and that, and for the most part they are right. My friend let me tell you im stuck in a house with 2 parents who got seperated are back together and are about to divorce, so i have to take care of my 2 lil sisters, i take out loans for all my college, ive been financing my car since i was 18 and paying for my insurance, plus i work. Ill tell you man everyone has it rough one way or another. Im fortunate i have all these things cuz i know there are soooo many peepz who dont. There is nothing you can do, you cant change people or the way they are programmed, thats how your parents were raised to think and programmed to behave, just deal with it, stick your chest out and keep your head up kid, if we didnt have bad times, trust me, we would never truely appreciate the good times. Good luck kid

I know how you feel about an older bro who doesnt do sh**. I have 2 kids, clean my moms house, inside and outside. Pay her rent, help w/dishes, and dont bother her. My brother has no kids, lives at home paying no rent, and does not EVER do a single chore. When he gets asked to do something, he whines like a little girl. I get bitch*d at all the time for doing nothing, and asked to do things when I am busy. My mom is a biyatch. She tries to run everybody's lives. But guess what, I am now taking classes that will be finished in about amonth. After that I will start making 1,000+ weekly. I am so freakin goin to a very nice apartment. Im gonna trick it out, as well as my soon to be swapped engine (once I work for a couple months). I am gonna shove it in her face, especially when I will be paying my ex's apartment as well. (instead of her asking for child support) Just work your butt off, so you can shove it in their face and have your own pimp place.

My brother doesnt even go out much. He is 24, just graduated college, and he watches TV ALL DAY LONG, literally. He did during school as well. He works a job where he has to work about 1 hour a day. For the church, where all his friends are.

18 I was outtie 5000
I grew up in a military family and my dad was a high ranking officer and he would come home pissed all the time. Then at 18 they had to move to washington and I said I'm staying. so I had to make it on my own. I just turn 27. I don't regret it al all. It gave me a reality check at first, that I really needed.

^ werd. its tough growing up. I think they give you so much responsibility because they know you can get things done. Unlike your brother that does nothing at all.
Just try to communicate with your parents more often and let them know what you're thinking. An open relationship will make things better...
