'01 el - keyless entry and aftermarket deck

Hello,

I have a 2001 Acura 1.7el premium. I bought my self a alpine 9831 deck. Now I don't know if this is true, but I 've heard it a few times. Some people say that removing the factory deck and installing an aftermarket deck will disable my factory keyless entry system since it is hooked up through the factory deck. Is this true? I was reading and some people said it was just for civics from 96-98. I just want a second opinion. ANyone else install an aftermarket deck in an '01 el? Thanks

I've installed tons of decks in 01+ EL's (and even the previous generation). There is absolutely no truth to what you've heard - keyless is totally independent of the deck on our cars. Next time someone tells you that, punch him in the face and impregnate his sister.

Welcome to the forum, I'm TeLLy, the resident drunk.

Get me drunk all you want but unless you're Natasha Yi or Rowena Galam, you're not even gonna get IN the car, you frighten me so.

This is true of the older civics. I use to work at a mobile electronics store, there was usually enough room to tape the deck up and keep it in the car, we would use a dummy harness to splice into to wire the new deck. This would leave power to the factory deck but no sound of course...
