Who changes their own brakes?

Im just wondering how many people change their own brakes. I found a DIY here and it looks easy enough. Im probably going to do this some time next week.

I have changed my own. It is fuking easy as ****. If doing just pads, just unscrew 2 bolts, lift up the calipers, pull out the old pads, push in the piston in the caliper and put the new pads and and put back in the 2 bolts.

Brakes are usually rediculously easy...except for my brother's 323 that required the whole hub removed, that was a PITA.

you realy only need to remove the bottom bolt and swing the caliper up, then push the piston back (should crack the bleed screw for this) put in new pads, swing caliper down and away you go. don't forget to pump the pedal befor you drive anywhere. if you wanna be real pro about it lube the floating pins and bleed the system while your at it. good luck.

also remember not to somehow let air into the brakelines or else you wont be able to stop to well and youll have to bleed them

the only part i really disagree with on the DIY you have linked is the part about pushing the piston back into the caliper. The proper way would be to open the bleeder up on the caliper then push the fluid out thru the bleeder. This step is VERY important on cars equiped with ABS brakes (Civic EX model). this can also cause problems in non-abs cars but its fairly rare.

I've been changing brakes since I was about 11 years old. Its so easy. Once you do it once, you will never forget how to do it. Its a little more tricky to do drum brakes if you got them in the rear.
