Stolen
Stolen
Hey guys, I was just wondering if our cars are easy to steal. I tried searching, so please dont tell me to search. I have some pretty decent stuff in my car and im getting kinda worried about it and I was wondering if any one had some info about how to make it more secure (if needed).
Thanks guys
Thanks guys
hey i dont know much about how east it is to steal out cars. but i heard on some show aswell as my dad telling me that our cars were #3 on top cars stolen lastyear. my dads truck was #2 lol. so i dont hear much of them gettin stolen but they must be easy to get into. someone told me that you can just drill directly into the lock and it will push it right out. but these are all rumors.
i think it was the 01 plus im like 99% but could be wrong., i have an alarm but if the ppl know hhow to get around them its no problem. theres a kid around where i live in ontario canada and he only steals 6thgen alarm or not and he can get into one in under a min without the alarm being tripped. i was scared shitless of this guy luckly threw friends of friends he wont touch mine, he said n e civic i want he can have to it my front door that night, and hes about 19. i just met him that night or w/e but just goes to show what can be done.
I found these two links, (its reashuring)

I think its good to know that our cars are not even on the list, but its definetly possible that it could happen.
Has any here ever got there car stolen?

I did get my 85 Nissan truck stolen once. But the silent alarm shuts off the fuel pump, and I found it around the corner with: Missing radio, dead battery from repeated attempts to re-start the engine, and a dent in the tailgate from repeated attempts to bump-start the engine.
I still have the truck.
My SL65 rim, because a rim is all I can afford

Depends on the year of your car, in '03 Honda put in a roller-wave key that is magnetically coded and the ECU will not run with out it, make things a little harder. But the 01-02 are not hard and the '03+ is still easy to break into. Any off the shelf car alarm can be disabled in a matter of second if the perosn knwos what they are doing.
I remember reading a post on here once that told how to get a security system and customize it so that when someone tires to disable it, they can't. Try searching for it, that was almost a year ago I think...
As for the most stolen car/truck. Accords and Camarys are number one and two. You don't want to steal a car that you can't get rid of, like a Cadilac or something, those two cars you can steal, rip the parts off the car and sell the parts to some shady shop for replacement parts. And since there are more Accords and Cameries, more of them are going to get damaged and thus there is a higher demand for the parts form those cars. Thus more of them will get stolen, civic's are in the top ten though.

If someone really wants your car or the stuff in it, they will get it. there is really nothing that will protect your stuff from inside from being stolen. Yea alarms work, but they will still get it. If you are that worried, either dont leave nice and expensive stuff in your car, and get something that will shut the car off if it is stolen.
The transponder that disconnects the ECU was installed in the 2001 model, thus all 7th gens have the immobilizer circuitry built in. Basically without the proper key, the ECU will disengage the ignition and fuel circuits.
The only ways around this are
tow the vehicle
replace ECU, reciever, and key. Though a chipped ECU could be used to bypass that, then pull the key cylinder, turn with a screwdriver and drive away.
To steal former Civics, you used a dent puller to pull the cylinder lock. Insert a screwdriver, break steering wheel lock, and drive away. A good thief or repo man could do this in under 30 seconds.

its a bit over the top.. but well.. it works... better GPS units that you can track with a computer... get one.. stick it up inside the dash where theres nothing to steal.. then you can always track yer car..
a friend of mine has one in his boat and his durango.. neither of which have ever been stolen.. but at 70k+(with aftermarket stuff and paint and all that other crap) he said it was worth it..

i know someone who has GPS in his acura vigor its a nice car but its not worth as much as ours. he said its only like 40cdn a monthly rate. and i cant imagine the system is worth to much more then 3bills cdn
