vtec dis-engaged?
i have an sohc ex automatic and it feels/seems like vtec isnt cutting in after 5500rpm. im thinking its my o2 sensor thats been throwing cel lights at me ever since i installed it. its the megan hi flow test pipe/resonator/cat. ppl tell me its the 2nd o2 sensor thats throwing the cel light (aka malfunction indicator lamp).
so my question is: "does the cel light affect the cars performance (or in any way matter of fact)?" if so, specifically which section?
i been using 5w-30 fully syn motor oil if it matters.. and its been changed yesterday.
thanks

cel light definately affects how the car runs. Sensors cause the ecu to operate the way it does. Also, vtec doesn't engage unless the car is at wot and warmed up.
u can actually run the car without the second o2 sensor if you wanted to.. u just would have a check light.. i dont even have mine in anymore and car runs perfectly fine.. all the second sensor does is check the efficentcy of your catalytic converter.. if ur cat isnt working to standard then a CEL would come on....now if your first sensor isnt working good then that can affect performance.. i forgot who it was with but i think it was me and DEZOD that had a topic discussion on this same thing

I gunned it last night in an empty lot to test if vtec would kick in after 5500 but it seems like its not cutting in.
it was also after 30min of driving so everything is all warmed up. its either something wrong with my sensors or sohc sucks fatass
