DIY needed for Radiator flush and fill

Theres a drain valve on the bottom of the radiator in the middle, its white. There is also a plug on the back of the block thats a 19mm (i think). You will need a new crush washer for that plug on the back of the block however.

for the bolt that goes in the back of the block, do you have to put some sort of sealer on it (looks like a paste that forms into a gasket) or will the crush washer do? also, i hear people saying you're not supposed to put water in our radiatiors because it'll corrode, thats why we need Honda's brand of coolant which has less phosphates or something. but the thing is, how do you actually "flush" a radiator without the hose?

No they are usually refering to tap water in the radiator, this has minerals that can cause deposits in the cooling system. If you are going to mix your own, use distilled water for it. I'd just use the honda coolant, it's cheap and works good.

is there a bolt that lets all the air bubbles out. i remember on my older honda theres a small bolt with a nipple on top that you loosen. when coolant comes out of it then you know all the air bubbles are gone. do we have this on our cars because i cant seem to find it. thanks

--remove drain plug on radiator and let coolant drain.
--squeeze the upper radiator hose until you can't get any more out.
--at this point, almost all of the coolant should be out of the system
--close the plug and pour new fluid in (so reserve tank is full)
--remove radiator cap and start car
--rev to 3k rpms until the temp needle shows full warm up
--let fans come on or turn the AC on so the radiator fans click on.
--you should see air bubbles begin to surface from the open radiator
--leave car on for 5-10mins, or until no more bubbles are seen coming to the surface. Shut car off and replace cap. Monitor fluid levels for a few days and add new coolant if necessary. The system should now be bubble free and fully functional.
ONLY use Honda coolant to refill (premixed).

when i did it last, we had this flush kit. you remove the pitcock from the radiator (the bolt), and from the block, then they have this hose kit. you hook up your garden hose and flush out the old crap and clean it out. then you put in a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water.
we did this in my auto class years ago. i guess running hose water through wont cause any harm since it wont be sitting in there and is just being flushed out. i dunno.
