Engine swap legal advise. plz help!

I was just wondering if it would be illegal for me to get a k20a2 into my 2001 civic ex. I was wondering this because they told me that if i do this engine swap my car wouldn't be able to pass the smog test. Is this true or not?

jttegx has a spectacular aura aboutjttegx has a spectacular aura about
if the rsx-s can pass smog, i dont see why not.

yes, stl01civic is right, any motor/engine that is older than the car itself is illegal to swap in. with an k20a2 in your civic, i wouldnt leave any bolt-on mod on the car when smogging it for safety reasons. i would use 100% OEM parts

about the older engines part, it is mostly bs around here unless you are trying to sell the car. then thats when its illegal.
