Anyways, you could use an amp that is one channel, either 1ohm or 4ohm stable. I'd go with US AMPS They make the best subwoofer amps on the market as far as i'm concerned and i've been selling,installing and enjoying car audio for 10yrs.

The 1000x is 1000W into 1channel at 4ohms. Just what you want. Or you can do the 2000x which i have. But its a monster.

Trust me on these amps. I've got a $1600 sub hooked up to mine and i'd never use anything else.

i have a cheap boss amp to it...(boss w-775) rated at 950x2 ......but i hear boss is WAAAAY overrated......i dont know how these subs would sound with a much better amp but they dont sound so bad on that one.....would it really be worth it to change it?

I'd just borrow a friends amp for like 10mins and switch out and test. That is if you know anyone with a "nice" amp that would let you swap out for a quick test.
