Yup. I need to go figure out how to use it. Right now it doesn't sound as good as it did before, but hopefully I'll be able to take care of that.
So far the only thing I don't like is how many freaking times you have to hit a button to get to certain menus, but I guess that goes along with having a head unit that does a lot of stuff.
Oh yeah, and the auto volume increase thing... it kept getting louder when I was sitting in a parking lot. I guess it heard its own music and got louder to compensate, which in turn increased the amount of sound it was hearing so it got louder, etc. I turned it off.
What do you guys set your crossovers and slopes at?
Also, since I now have sub output on my deck as well as a seperate bass level ****, how high should I set my gain on my amp? I feel like even with the bass **** turned up and the sub output increased it's not much bass. Maybe I need to increase the gain on my amp, yeah?

You just gotta play with it. I had no idea when I first got mine. Now my custom eq vs. flat is night and day difference. I have high pass set at 80Hz and low pass at 100Hz with +2 sub volume. Some things will be different. I can post my eq curve too if you want.

I was just in my car in the parking lot with my car running for like an hour while I played it it. Holy crap this deck owns me.
Right now I think I have all my crossovers at 100Hz with the slopes at 12db/octave. Sub volume is +2. BBE is on but at zero. I haven't played around with the time adjustment yet.
Hey gearbox, do you have the two compressions and two BMX options? I don't think I ever saw those on the Pioneer one at Circuit City, I think they may only be on the Premier. Can anyone confirm this?
Things I don't like:
Sometimes I press the function button back a track when I'm trying to push it in.
When fast forwarding, the noise it makes as it skips is like louder than the playing volume. Also, it fast forwards and rewinds slow (store bought cds).
It does something that I've noticed some cd players do: it starts the track like 1/2 second into it. So for example if you have a track that starts exactly at 0:00 with a cymbal crash, instead of hearing PSSSSHHHHHHhhhhh, you'll just hear SHHhhhhhhh. This is very bad and I would assume the freaking Premier line would not do that. It's only noticable on songs that begin exactly at 0:00, tho.
I thought it might be some effect I had turned on, but I turned all the compression or whatever off and it still did it.
I think ASL will be annoying and erradic, so I will probably leave it off.
Things I like:
Everything except the stuff up there.

Oh, it seems like some background displays revert back to "off" when I change tracks, but others don't. wtf? Is that a programming glitch? I don't care because usually don't use the backgrounds anyway.

Post pics! I leave off all the features like loud, bbe, position alignment, sound field etc and just set the eq by itself. Mine has time alignment, but that stays on depending on the vehicle type like sedan or suv. ASL sucks, and I haven't noticed it starting 1/2 sec into the song. When skipping, mp3s are silent on mine. I almost never play cds unless I just bought one at the store. MP3 always... Don't know about compression and bmx? Mine doesn't have that I guess. Every deck has it's qwerks. Do you have to wait a minute or more for the mp3s to load for the first time? Also I have a 3 sec pause between songs. Be glad you aren't stuck with a sony or new kenwood.
To get your desired sound quality for your Pioneer DEH P860MP, you need to adjust its Q factor. Adjusting BBE and Treble is not enough.
Look for the AUDIO button and push and hold it until the Q factor display appears. If you are well versed with q factor adjustments, you can play with it until you get your desired SQ. But here is the basic adjustment, which will likely make you happy.
LOW: 40-80-100-160
MID: 200-500-1k-2k
HIGH: 3.5k-8k-10k-12.5k
settings the LOW, if you have subwoofers, you may play it between 100 or 160 frequency and set it to 2W, if you dont have a subwoofer, play it between 40 or 80 and set it also to 2W.
settings the MID, put it sa 200 frequency then 1W.
settings ng HIGH, put it sa 12.5k frequency then 2N.
Try it.
HTH.

i got a Pioneer DEH-P7600MP, and i have the compression and bmx controls. i was tryina find the manual so i coudl tell ya what its used for. i know i read about it in there. but i cant find it. so look urself in ur manual and it'll explain ya what each of the settings do. basically it allows the sound to be more "alive" and is only used for wma/mp3 compressed tracks. i know i have mine set to BMX2.
also, revmaster, i've tried playin around with the Q factor settings on my pioneer.. but what the hell does it really do to the sound? like that W, and N thing.. what the hells this? would appreciate if u could explain it! and i'm gonna try the basic settings u posted. thx!

Those Q factors are actually sound frequencies to make the quality of sound clearer and more defined. You adjust it based on your sound preference, add more bass, clear vocals etc.
Im really sorry, but I am not very techinical with what those frequencies means and stands for. But just try and play around with it until you find your desired sound quality.

Q factor is actually the slope on a boost or cut...Read the top of this for more info.
Also, the reason why your songs are getting cut off at the begining is because your HU probably has a muting circuit that cuts off output between songs (so you don't hear hiss and unwanted noise)...the muting circuit is probably taking to long to activate when a new song starts.
