Anything less than 1/2 tank...
Usually in 3rd gear...
Give it a bit of gas... nothing _too_ crazy...
Car bogs like it needs fuel but can't get any, throws check engine light.
Honda has reset my CEL at least 3 times (stupid honda fuxks). Re-occuring problem. Never happens on flat roads. Still under extended warranty.
Suspect it's the fuel sender...

Get them to stop resetting and start replacing. If you've got a warranty, then make use of it, get them to take something apart. It sounds like fuel shifting off the pickup, or the pump is doing something funky, but something's not right. I've never lost fuel on the track before, which is much harder than an offramp, so it shouldn't be happening.
And there's no need to bump threads. If someone knows the answer, they'll post it. If no one posts, no one knows.

don't back fires happen when you have to much back-pressure at some point? I know I am probably wrong but that may be a reason.

Well, the sending unit was replaced with a new one.
The valves were re-adjusted, two were a little tight.
All the work done, and parts replaced were covered under honda warranty.
Within an hour of getting the car back, the check engine light came on again.

My GUESS..... weak fuel pump, partially clogged filter, too much vaccum in the tank... Could be a sensor, but I'm leaning towards a pump/filter problem.
This never happens with a full tank? Then it's a fuel starvation issue.
And no, the sending unit and valves.... lol... wouldn't do that.
Don't drink and post, you will end up hilarious.

My guess would be a fuel pump
On our 2001 EX the pump would go out completely sometimes making the car sputter bog then the engine would cut off. Of course Honda tried to blame that on the DC Header but then they found the real source of the problem.

Bringing it in again today. Honda should pay me for the time I lose at work.
I will tell them to check the fuel pump, filter, excesive vaccuum, and signs of water in the tank.

when the cel is on, goto autozone and have them use the scanner and read the code. My car was doing the same thing and i had a "High Voltage o2 sensor input". The car would hesitate real bad at part throttle, A/F Meter reading lean off the scale, then it would surge and o2 voltage would return to spec. sometimes the cel would come on and engine go into open loop and run rich rich rich. after a day of cel on, it would reset and operate normal. I still havent replaced the sensor, but its acting fine now, i assume deposits are starting to form on the sensor and i just dont do enough high rpm driving to prevent them from forming. Just my .02! -- Jeremy
