POLL: Some final release notes on the Dezod Motorsports Turbo Kit
Ok. One thing we have debated over was weather or not to include a cat on the downpipe. For power reasons, NO!! It acts as a theif on HP. None of the fairly successful kits include cats...Cybernation, Drag....So we would also like to keep it as close to legal as possible for various reasons. With that being said, should we include it on the downpipe?

Well, I guess it depends on what cat you're talking about using on the downpipe.
Are you talking about using a *real* cat? Something like a universal Random Tech cat? Or are you talking about using one of those resonators that looks like a cat?
I think you should offer it up as an option to those people that want to stay legal, but I also know you guys are trying to go after CARB certs.
It's a tossup.

yeah i think you should make both and make it up to individual buyers to decide. I know down here in florida we don;t have emmisions anymore so im sure fl people would want no cat. but down in cali where they are CARB notzi's they are gonna want the cat.

I already paid Jay (our tuner) $160 in labor & paid for $200 in dyno time for tuning and testing. I am not gonna go, fabricate another downpipe catless, and re-dyno it for the gains.

If I recall correctly.

Highest HP figure we made with it was 147.6 HP at 6000 RPMS
From our base dyno last year N/A with I/H/E (Injen SRI, 5 Zigen Fireball & DC Header) 103.7 HP & 95 FT/LBS
All done on 93 Octane, 7.5 PSI on an AUTO, NO additives (CO2, Alcohol, Nitrous).....With a random tech 2.25" Cat (It's gonna be upped to 2.5" on the final model).........on a HUMID 86 degree Buffalo, NY Saturday Afternoon.

my opinion would be to add it as an option. The main things people are going to look at on a turbo kit are price,HP, and quality... in that order. The kit is not legal anyways, so legality is not even an issue. Leave it up to the buyer if he wants to keep his emmisions clean, or save 100+ bux.

Dezod... here's what you need to do to help yourself out and the customers... Make a downpipe that will bolt up to a universal Cat, and offer that for the customers needing cats... and also for teh same downpipe you can make a Test pipe to bolt in place of the universal cat for those that don't want the cat.... basically you have the exact same Downpipe for two diff options and for your customers they are interchangable in a sense too, because if somebody wants a cat that didn't before can now buy one and have it without needind a diff DP, same for if you have the cat version, they can just take it out and buy a Testpipe from you, and swap it out... see what i'm saying? might be a lil more developing on your part and money, but for your convenience and the customers that would be a really good idea IMO... anywayz... GOOD LUCK!!!!
option....if it were a bolt on cat, ie: random technology etc. that we could remove and use as we need id be game on that...just for passing inspections and what not. Luckily this year i did pass but thats cuz a buddy of mine did the inspection...so i actually need something "legal" to have on their come inspection day
If you sell the kit to us california people, its going to be extremely tough trying to get it aproved for the lx /dx model. I have been to 4 different smog shops and every shop says the same thing, if you move the cat from the front of the block to under the car, such as the ex. They will not pass you. Reason being the cat on the front of the block buring the emissions faster that later on down the pipe. SO i dont really see a need to add a cat for the dx lx people unless your running it on a ex model car.
